The race will be run over a mile for a purse of $80,000 and was won last year by Seeking The Gold grand daughter Storm Hunter posting a SP of 89 in a time of 1:363/5 and in 2005 by Seeking The Gold daughter Seeking Phyllis posting a SP of 90 in the same time. Both have gone on to push the 500k barrier and this race looks as if the winner may just push the race record. Six 3yo fillies will met the starter in what promises to be a good race as trainers size up the quality of their filly. Seeking The Gold has three grand daughters in the race in what has been a successful race for the super sire.

Here’s how they will be loaded into the barriers.

PP #1 – SPIN WITH PRIDE(AUS) – SPINNING WORLD x KINGMAMBO x NINISKI (spiderwort) 3/1
Tough filly inbred to Nureyev 2SX4D and heavily to Northern Dancer who has been handled very well by trainer spiderwort to date. I say this as she has raced in relatively small fields and has hit the board in all nine races and although still looking for a listed stakes win, she has placed in all five runs at this level. She tends to race either in the lead or stalking and will look to do the same this week from the inside chute. Jockey P Davis has eleven wins at 9.1% this year and has seven years experience. Spin With Pride showed she has really developed from her juvenile season when posting a SP of 88 at 8f last time out in the Tough Seattle Special Stakes off a seven week break to finish 2nd by a length and a half. I would say she will develop further when given more ground and is a great contender this week.

PP #2 – TABLE MOUNTAIN(SAF) – NATIONAL EMBLEM (SAF) x MOUNT HAGEN(FR) x ROAN ROCKET(GB) (safrace4) 7/1
Very interesting runner who ran seven races on turf only to switch to dirt and win an allowance then a stakes race and now being switched back after finishing off and starting this year with two forgettable runs at graded and listed level. Runs very well when settling in the lead or stalking and comes undone when forced to race from behind. Has drawn close to the fence however jockey A Tuten is still to win from seventeen races this year but should be able to race forward this week as most will get back. She has been posted as the outsider and although I believe it is justified, I also see her as a chance to upstage some of these on her return to turf.

PP #3 – TALKING GIBBERISH(IRE) – SHAMARDAL x SEEKING THE GOLD x NORTHERN DANCER (foxon) 7/2
Trainer foxon bred her as a blue-blood and she has raced in blue-blood races with handy results to date. She has won two and placed four times in listed stakes and her best result is a 2nd place in G3 company. Although she has obviously been successful and has hit the board all but once in eleven starts, her speed is not that of a genuine multiple stakes winning filly and this may find her out this week. She has raced in relatively small fields to date and I expect her to settle in the last half of the field and attempt to swoop home this week with jockey B Child aboard who is her biggest asset as he has twenty-four wins at 14.3% this year. She appears to have predominant speed influence and is inbred to both Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer 3rd generation on dam’s side. Place chance.

PP #4 – CAPE SLEW(ENG) – CAPE TOWN x APTITUDE x RAHY (lazysranch) 9/2
Her first up performance this year was a cracker when taking out the Deadly Con Special Stakes going 8f against three other fillies and posting an 86. If she can regain that form she is a chance as last time out she was disappointing when 7th and over ten lengths of the winner at 8.5f in 3133. Jockey N Painter is eleven wins at 14.7% this year and with fifteen years in the saddle he is a big advantage. Cape Slew is a deep closer who can rattle home providing she does not get too far back in which case she will be blown away. Breeding suggest the trip is well within her however she could do with more ground against some of these zippy fillies. Looking to break the 100k mark this week and is a definite chance to win or place if she can find previous 8f form and stay in touch early.

PP #5 – SEEING THE RANSOM(ENG) – RED RANSOM x SEEKING THE GOLD x SADLER’S WELLS (amybab) 5/2
Great duel surface filly who has hit the board every run to date and has been well placed in appropriate races. She is based on Seeking Sadler who won most of his races as a 3 and 4yo on dirt and may have done more had he been given more ground. Seeing The Ransom nailed the field last time out in the Provellian Stakes by two lengths at 8f in 3126 and posted an 88 SP to show she has good potential. Breeding suggest she will want more ground but she can still account for this field with N Lawton aboard who in his 17th year in the saddle has forty-two winners this year at 24%. This is a massive advantage in a race with maybe one genuine challenger. She tends to race near the rear of the small fields she has run in and will probably sit a little further forward this week and take advantage of her class in the stretch. Winner.

PP #6 – CLOUT(KY) – STORM CAT x SEEKING THE GOLD x ALYDAR (lasthope) 3/1
This is the third grand daughter of Seeking The Gold in this race who is a listed stakes winner on dirt at 8f and is listed stakes winner on turf at 5.5f. Place 5th first up this year on dirt and went on to place 3rd in restricted stakes in 3140 at 6f. Breeding says she may continue to develop after posting a SP of 86 at 6f and if she does, she can go close in this. Her form has been quite patchy as she has been switching surface of late, however this will be her first run back to back on turf. Jockey P Hilton is one from fifteen this year and with only two years experience in the saddle, this is not what trainer lasthope would have wanted. Generally gets back in her races and closes late which most of the field will do. Place chance.

Suggested bet:

Seeing The Ransom – straight out.

Exacta – Seeing The Ransom 1st, Spin With Pride 2nd.

Good luck to all and may your noble steed be swift.

[2

post-3793","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
