What an upset and what a trifecta payout this week in the G3 Theregoesmyhero Stakes. As stated in the preview, the yielding track can sometimes throw up a nasty twist for punters and it was certainly the case in New South Wales this week. The race has only been run in quicker time once before at 1:492/5 in last years race. This years race at 1:493/5 was the 4th time it was run at this time.

Running from the outside chute, Yesimalllitupagain has gone from being a maiden and NW2L winner to G3 winner in one giant stride. After not really showing enormous talent as a 2yo, trainer themainman gave this colt an eleven week break with time to develop. He has since done just that and has now strung two nice wins together. Yesimalllitupagain’s dam Fields Of Gold won her maiden on yielding turf and he has this week shown he is an accomplished galloper when running through the ground. Coming from ten lengths behind, he rattled home to win by a half length paying $19.90 the win.

A gallant effort by the overbrooks trained E Town who stalked the leaders for most of the race and hung on well for 2nd. After winning a claimer first up this year he has taken giant steps placing in listed, winning a listed and now placing in graded stakes. A great run of yielding turf and was unlucky not to have held off the fast finishing winner. Exacta paid $230.30 after E Town added value at $11.80 for 2nd.

Spoiling the party for long shots running in the money was Ghostzapper colt – Florida Zapper trained by 2die4 and paying $4.30 for 3rd. He set the pace and lead the race but tired in the stretch to relinquish honors on the line to a deep closer and a stalker. Nails was expected to lead and took Florida Zapper on early which may have taken a little out of him in the stretch. He was well clear of the 4th placed Kepler Lord who was four lengths behind him and it would be interesting to see a rematch on a firm surface. Florida Zapper should have a solid career ahead and his 3rd placing took the trifecta payout to $1,094.20.
