Loads and loads of speed up the front of this race with many horses either pushing for the lead or stalking. A draught stricken New South Wales has welcomed rain this week and has turned out a yielding turf track in a nasty twist for punters for this the G3 Theregoesmyhero Stakes over 9f. Eleven 3yo colts will battle for a purse of $125,000 in what looks like a wide open race with as many as eight or nine genuine chances of collecting the chocolates this week. As trainers dream of winning this and using it as a stepping stone to greater riches, only those that handle the ground will be standing in what looks a great race. Here is how they will fall into line.

PP #1 – FLORIDA ZAPPER(KY) – GHOSTZAPPER X A.P. INDY X KINGMAMBO (2die4) 4/1
Winner of three of eight races at allowance level and is G2 placed. First six races were on dirt as a 2yo and has been switched to turf for last two runs in what looks like a good move. Last time out ran 2nd in Kingstonian Memorial Stakes at 9f running career best SP of 96. Front runner who usually sets the pace but may relinquish the lead to Nails and therefore will sit just off him this week from the inside chute. Ranked 52 at dirt classic and will take beating if he can perform up to last run and improve his turf ranking. Son of super-sire Ghostzapper who will have new comer C Brown aboard who is one win from fifteen this year. Well suited going 9f and will give the field something to catch in the stretch.

PP #2 -WHIRLING DATE(IRE) – AZAMOUR (IRE) X BENNY THE DIP X DANZIG CONNECTION (bmr002) 9/1
Certainly not your blue blood type like the inside gate and may be found out here in a tough race. Beaten over five lengths in the G3 Rantofan in first run this year and was five lengths behind Six Moon Orbit. Never run on soft ground and I would say that his only hope of winning is if he handles it and the others do not. Has not shown blistering speed as yet but has hit the board in half his runs. This maiden winner is a deep closer who has twenty years of experience on board in V Warner which is his best asset in this G3 race. Prefer others.

PP #3 – EURO OPTION(KY) – EUROSILVER X CARSON CITY X CRESTA RIDER (generous1) 25/1
Very interesting runner who is first up this year in this G3 tussle coming off a win then a place at listed company last year. Only runner to have seen an off-track in which he nailed the Empty Band Memorial Stakes field by two lengths. Has not displayed blistering pace as yet but may have developed into a speedy 3yo off an eleven week break. Jockey K Philp is one from twenty this year and will stalk the leaders on this colt and look to take advantage of the yielding turf in the stretch. Great value for money and I think I will have mine on this guy each way.

PP #4 – KEPLER LORD(KY) – RAHY X SADLER’S WELLS X MR. PROSPECTOR (marre) 5/1
Eleven starts for four wins and has hit the board a further four times on his way to topping the 100k mark. 2nd in the Single Bound Stakes last time out but was beaten by over four lengths. A good solid breed who should improve with more ground and is a winner at this track going 9f. Jockey K Williams is two from twenty-five in 2007 and will look to sit just off the pace and grind home in the stretch however he will need to develop more speed if he is to beat this field. Would defiantly be more confident with him at 10f + but could run well this week regardless.

PP #5 – SPANISH HARLAN(KY) – HARLAN’S HOLIDAY X CONQUISTADOR CIELO X STORM BIRD (fleet1) 6/1
Showed that he had developed and preferred more ground when winning the Your Rules Special Stakes first up this year going 9.5f. Was then dropped back in distance in the G1 Fainting Goat and was subsequently nailed by glamour colt Mambo Wildcat last time out. Coming of a six week break but has been assigned P Leonello who has not saluted this year but this guy is the stable star and if he can reproduce his listed stakes run he may topple some more fancied runners. Runs best when taking a sit just off the stalkers and if he does not get too far back he is another chance in a broad contest.

PP #6 – NAILS(KY) – MINESHAFT X STORM BIRD X MR. PROSPECTOR (crazyjoe) 6/1
Has put four nicely space runs together culminating in a 2nd placed run in the 3119 Sunken Treasure Challenge Stakes after a win and a 3rd in listed company prior. Trainer crazyjoe gives this colt plenty of rest and again comes into this off a five week lay off. I think the step up in ground will suit although he doesn’t appear to have loads of stamina. Only missed hitting the board when stepping up to allowance company for the first time and has not looked back since being subsequently switched to turf. P Culpepper is only one from twenty-eight for the year but I am tipping Nails to hit the board and quite possibly win if he handles the give in the ground. Will lead and look the winner at some stage in the stretch.

PP #7 – BRABASPEIGHT(KY) – SPEIGHTSTOWN THEATRICAL(IRE) RIVERMAN (brabant) 8/1
Hit the board five of seven times with three wins including a three length win last time out in the Duck Wow Memorial Stakes going 8.5f in 3119. Jockey L Fontain has fifteen wins at 11.5% this year and will be a big advantage for this 10f + colt who is looking to make it four wins in a row. Has come through the classes starting with maiden to allowance to listed and now steps up for his biggest test to date. From same stable as gun filly Brabasong and will be in the thick of it in the stretch providing he handles the yielding turf. Career best SP of 95 last start showed that he has blistering pace and looks like great value at 8/1.

PP #8 – THE BLADE(KY) – SKY CLASSIC X LYPHARD X TROY(GB) (bevroniii) 20/1
This guy wants turf and he is begging for extra furlongs. After failing on dirt for the third time first up this year, The Blade showed he was much sharper (sorry, couldn’t resist) running on turf at 9f when winning his maiden by over three lengths. He then went on to place 2nd in the Lost Mountain Stakes in 3133 and is coming into this whilst still hot. As with Kepler Lord, this race looks to be too short for these long distance type horses to gain an advantage and I think he will be found out needing more distance in the stretch. Does however have gun jockey R Owen who is twenty-one wins at 17.4% on board and will most likely be ridden a little further back this week and attempt to rattle home over the top. Good value if race at 10f+.

PP #9 – E TOWN(ENG) – CAPE TOWN X E DUBAI X BAHRI (overbrooks) 10/1
Twelve races and hitting the board half the time is this 3yo son of Cape Town who will come off a two week break to attempt to emulate last start in which he won the Dinky Liquor Special Stakes by over two lengths going 9f. Before that he ran a huge race second up in the Debee’s Belief Special Stakes to post a SP of 93 and run 2nd. Stalks the leaders and will be accompanied by young gun D Philips who has four wins from eleven starts this year and will most likely be ridden very close to the speed along with many others in this race. Is yet another good chance at odds and would not surprise me to see him in the money this week.

PP #10 – SIX MOON ORBIT(KY) – FUSAICHI PEGASUS X SADLER’S WELLS X SEATTLE SLEW (kyclocker1) 6/1
After stepping up to listed stakes company in 3091 and winning the Rich Crown Special Stakes at 9f, nailing all challengers by over four lengths he again took a step up to the G3 Rantofan Handicap and ran a 95 SP to finish only a half length of the winner in 3rd. The form surrounding that race is not great but he did beat R Loyal Man who recently ran a 105 SP to place 2nd in his next run in G3 company. He has run five times on turf for three wins and two seconds and looks as if he will continue to hit the board this week. He is a deadly deep closer that races from near last in the field and rattles home in the stretch. Bigger things may beckon if he can win this and with jockey P Bangs aboard who has thirty-five wins at 22.3% this year, Six Moon Orbit looks in good order and is great value at 6/1. My favorite for this race.

PP #11 – YESIMALLLITUPAGAIN(JPN) – FANTASTIC LIGHT X SEEKING THE GOLD X METFIELD (themainman) 8/1
Won two from six and placed a further two times in allowance company. Won first up this year off an eleven week break in NW2L company running career best SP of 92 at 9f. Has ability on dirt but looks to have taken the step this year on turf and appears to be up to this task as an outside chance. Would need better value for my hard earned as he only just beat a fairly unaccomplished field last time out but does have T Rathman aboard who has eight winners this year at 15.7%. Failed in only two graded and listed runs and must run as close to the pace this week as possible to be a chance as his deep closing style will not allow him to pick up this field. Prefer others.

Well an evenly matched field with many chances.

My best bets would be:

Six Moon Orbit, Brabaspeight, Nails and Florida Zapper in box Trifecta.

Good fortune to all and may your stead be swift!

[2

post-3766","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
