This past weekend was the running of the Grade II, Los Vinegrette Stakes. As expected, despite rain earlier in the week, the dirt track was listed as fast for the mile long race on Saturday. A full field of fourteen fillies drew into this race and the stands were tense as the runners entered the starting gate and waited for the bell to sound out.
Breaking from mid-pack and out to an early lead of half a length was My War Hero <\/b>, trianed and owned by Irh <\/i>. Behind in second was Prodo Queen <\/b>, owned by lazysranch <\/i> and jdawg11 <\/i> owned Pure Life (IRE) <\/b> was coming up in third. Trailing behind in fourth was Tahuna <\/b> and Tactical Rat <\/b> in fifth, owned by Imstable <\/i> and edenridge <\/i> respectively. Out half a beat slow was Ouraki <\/b>, trained by funster <\/i>.
At the first turn it was still My War Hero <\/b> in the lead by a length and one-fourth with Prado Queen <\/b> in second and Pure Life (IRE) <\/b> still in third. Tahuna <\/b> and Tactical Rat <\/b> remained batting in the fourth and fifth positions. Snappa5 <\/i> owned and trained Star Of The North <\/b> was begining to make her move early, moving up one position from eleventh and into tenth, passing by Saujon <\/b>, trained by fortywalt <\/i>. Still trailing the pack early on is Ouraki <\/b>.
Now it was Pure Life (IRE) <\/b> who had gained the lead and was leading by one-fourth of a length. My War Hero <\/b> had now fallen back into second and watershed <\/i> owned and trained You\u2019re A Towel <\/b> came rocketing from back in eighth and was now in third, just one length off the pace. Moving up into fourth is Tactical Rat <\/b> with Prado Queen <\/b> faltering and falling back into fifth. Star Of The North <\/b> was continuting to pick off horses and had now made her way up to sixth with Tahuna <\/b> falling back into seventh. Saujon <\/b> was now in eighth, with early morning favorite, flagdown <\/i> trained All The Riches <\/b> making her move in back in ninth.. Losing ground and filling back into tength and eleventh was Beautiful Woman (AUS) <\/b>, trained by hillprice <\/i> and longshot Solar Powered (IRE) <\/b>, owned by corza3 <\/i>. Ruby Belle (AUS) <\/b>, owned and trained by fleet1 <\/i> had fallen back into twelth with lawyerron <\/i> trained Quiet Sheikh <\/b> back in the thirteenth slot, and still trailing the pack but showing signs of closing in was Ouraki <\/b>.
At last the field of fourteen came thundering down to the wire and it was an upset by watershed <\/i> owned and trained You\u2019re A Towel <\/b> coming from mid pack to take the Los Vinegrette Stakes by a length with a recorded speed figure of ninety-six with jcokey F. Gossett riding. In second was late-charger Star Of The North <\/b> and in third, morning line favorite All The Riches <\/b>.
