Mumbai and Cannot Comply gave chase with Dreaming Of Love being ridden further forward than usual. Bling, Alma and La Pata Daisy sat some lengths of this group and looked to be getting too far back at one stage.

Torger who had set a break neck pace in front faded quickly when the pressure came on. Dreaming Of Love, Mumbai and Alma move up within a few strides leading the charge behind them as Bling grew wings with 4 furlongs to run as she scorched through the pack bringing Ultegra and Ascendancy up briefly as well.

In the stretch, Dreaming Of Love looked the winner at one stage, bowling along ahead of Alma and Mumbai who didn’t get the trip and began to fade to 4th. Ultegra dropped out as did Ascendancy who didn’t fire a shot for her trainer whilst N Woolford aboard Bling rode hands and heels to the finish to salute at $26.90 after opening at 12/1. Dreaming Of Love was 2nd for a $246.10 exacta and Alma finished 3rd for a $2,936.60 payout.

The time of 1.48 1/5 was quicker than the previous year (Bella Firuga- 2006), equal to the year before that (Bella Firuga – 2005) and slower than in 2004 when the champion Storm Dog won.
This is a great Grade 3 status win for Bling as she is a lightly raced 5yo mare and it should add value for her trainer safrace2 when retiring and breeding her. Although beaten again, Dreaming Of Love has run a great race late in her career after a good solid lead up run. She is hopefully back in form after a very solid effort and look for her in her next Graded performance. Alma also run solidly and is now the 4th ranked turf classic open class filly and is another to look out for at odds next run.

[3

post-3629","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-reviews
["GET
