It’s hard for me to believe that just mere days ago I published an article on a horse that has won 16-races in a row.\u00a0 Now there are some horses out there with long win races, but most are due to competing against short fields and\/or purchasing HOT races where the field conditions can be controlled to some degree.<\/p>\n
I had lost to a horse a few months back and after the race noted the perfect record.\u00a0 I contacted the owner and after some reluctance, they agreed to let me write about the horse with a few conditions to protect the identity of the horse.\u00a0 Thus the horse was known as AMAZING XYZ in the article and the owner as Pat (which is a uni-sex name for either Patricia or Patrick, neither the real name of the owner). \u00a0 Dates of actual races were obscured in the article to reduce the likelihood the horse could be identified.<\/p>\n
After writing the article, there was one reader that posted a message to the article that they knew of the horse and had also raced against it.\u00a0\u00a0 I cannot confirm this claim as the reader did not publish the name, which was greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n
In any event, Pat, the owner of the horse has written back to me.\u00a0 He has read the article, apparently several times and is surprised by the number of people who have read the article (which of this writing exceeds 300).\u00a0\u00a0 Pat has had a change of mind about racing the horse who has posted speeds well above the 100-level, all in allowance races.\u00a0\u00a0 “I’ve decided now is the time to enter my horse into a stake race.\u00a0\u00a0 After reading and re-reading the article, it made sense.\u00a0 You’re comment that I may have already missed an opportunity to win some stake races hit home.” Pat wrote in an email to me.<\/p>\n
Pat’s original plan was to race a few more allowance races, with his now 4-year old superstar, then move to a listed stake followed by grade level if things went well.\u00a0\u00a0 “I’ve changed my plans and have now entered the horse into a listed stake race for Saturday.\u00a0\u00a0 The race will be filled shortly and I’m sure everyone will be able to identify if it should win.\u00a0 So with that, I’m giving you my approval to share the name.\u00a0\u00a0 Thank you very much for a well written article and maybe someday you’ll cover one of the races it will be in.\u00a0\u00a0 Actually, it will be nice to read a write up of the horse in any article in the BTB and if I can get to the Grade Level, I’m sure it will get some coverage.”<\/p>\n
So I wrote back and confirmed it was ok to divulge the name, as once it’s done, there is no going back.\u00a0\u00a0 Pat confirmed that I can release the name and here it goes:<\/p>\n
