We have a small but intriguing field for this weekend\u2019s Nijinsky Western Challenge this weekend.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Five fillies will be running a mile on the good dirt and as always happens early in the 2yo season, there are more questions than answers about these girls.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Of the five, one is a stakes winner, one has one on an off track, one has never raced before, and not one of them has run a route before. It\u2019s a wide-open, classy field that should provide viewers with a fun, unpredictable race.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

Sweetchildofmine<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Cheadle<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>2\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Mineshaft filly is two-for-two, including a win on an off track.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She\u2019s the only one in the field to have tried the mud and she liked it just fine; a big point in her favor.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Sadly, her jockey is abysmal, which will diminish her chances.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It\u2019ll be interesting to see whether she can get a mile; this race will be an excellent test for her.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Expect a solid performance from her, though I like others better for the win.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

A.P. Sadler<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Lostcode<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6\/5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>One of three \u00a0<\/SPAN>fillies in the field to earn an 80 fig already, which was in her debut.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She won that 7-furlong race comfortably and with her breeding, she should be very happy to stretch out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has the best jock by far in this contest.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Put that all together and I expect a big effort from this promising girl.<\/P>

Four Roses<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Soho<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>9\/2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Debut for Touch Gold filly.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Should be happy enough miling, but there\u2019s not much we can say about her until she gets a race or two under her belt.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

Wally\u2019s Dehere<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Doa<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>4\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Only stakes-winner in the field, she\u2019s also part of a three-way tie for highest speed fig.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>On top of that, she\u2019s come closer than anyone else here to running a mile, and she did it with style.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She\u2019s won two of three with nice speed figs in both races, so expect her to run well here as well. \u00a0<\/SPAN>Lousy jock to overcome, though.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

Pretty Palace<\/B>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Ladypd<\/I>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>6\/1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Has two good races under her belt, with a debut win and a strong third in stakes company.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Stretching out a fair amount here, so this will be a big question for her to answer.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Also has to overcome a rotten rider.<\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P>

I love A.P. Sadler and Wally\u2019s Dehere in this race, both of whom have run as fast as anyone here and both of whom has run at least 7 furlongs successfully.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>But this race isn\u2019t out of anyone\u2019s grasp and a lot of surprising things can happen as the juvies stretch out.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Should be a fun race! \u00a0<\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/P><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
