In only it\u2019s second year, The FINANCIAL SLAP Memorial<\/B> will see seven colts battle it out over a mile on good dirt for a piece of the $45,000 pie.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The race\u2019s namesake, a horse trained by georgeff <\/I>for most of his career, won only one stakes race in his career \u2013 and that came in his six-year-old season.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Last year\u2019s champion TERRITORIAL T<\/B> won straight off breaking his maiden, and has had a decent career since.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In the field today DANCE TO DYNAMITE<\/B> and BATTLE WONDER(FR)<\/B> are coming off maiden wins \u2013 can they create a tradition of successful first-time stakes winners in this race?<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

Ticketman0 got unlucky with the jockeys despite the bookies reasonable opinion of this colt\u2019s chances; M Peterson has only won 7.8% of his races this year.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His in the money percentage is pretty decent though, with about 1\/3 of his mounts coming fifth or better.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Although the jockey\u2019s credentials are weak, the horse himself looks well prepped for his third stakes race at this distance.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He ran well the last two times out, coming third in both The NIJINSKY SCOOPING Bonanza<\/B> and The DEDICATED TREASURE Challenge<\/B>. Speeds in the mid-80\u2019s should put this one back on the podium here.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

I\u2019ll admit I\u2019m biased; this one is running for my secondary stable.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>To be completely honest he\u2019ll have to rise to the occasion to make the money in this one, he\u2019s run twice in routes with his best time at a mile 1:37 4\/5 \u2013 to put this in perspective he\u2019ll have to shave off over a second to win this Saturday.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That being said last year\u2019s winner accomplished that task.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

ULTIMATE WEAPON<\/SPAN><\/B> \u2013 trained by pick6king<\/I> \u2013 5\/2<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

The bookies liked this one enough to guess he should place in this field, though I\u2019m tempted to disagree.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His last two have been at this level, and he\u2019s run well in both coming first and fourth respectively.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His SP numbers are certainly good enough to keep in the mix here as well.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>My concern is the extra \u00bd furlong pick6king<\/I> is asking his boy to take on \u2013 he was slower over 7.5f last time out, an indication that he may prefer sprinting.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I\u2019d put him in the money again, but not in the winner\u2019s circle.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

WINTERNET<\/SPAN><\/B> \u2013 trained by australia<\/I> \u2013 9\/1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

Tied for the longest odds in the field, the bookies sure didn\u2019t think much of this guys chances.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>I hate to agree, but I think the distance may be too much for this one.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His sire FREEFOURINTERNET<\/B> is a first-year sire so only time will tell whether his progeny can stretch it out, but even his damsire BELONG TO ME<\/B> has been predominantly a sprint influence.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He may have a shot at a mile in his three-year-old season, but at this point I\u2019d prefer to see him stick around 6.5f (where his best race to date was run) and maybe try the turf.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That being said genes aren\u2019t everything and with a record of 3-2-0-0 I don\u2019t doubt australia<\/I> knows exactly what his horse is capable of.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

ATAUN<\/SPAN><\/B> \u2013 trained by palmisland<\/I> \u2013 2\/1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

The big-time favourite, this son of GONE WEST<\/B> out of a SADLER\u2019S WELLS <\/B>mare comes into this race with a second place finish in The TIMELESS S. Bonanza<\/B>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>That race was run in the mud, so experience on an off-track may be a factor on Saturday.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>His SP\u2019s are right on, and with a top jock like C Capper<\/I> onboard he\u2019ll be tough to beat.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

\u00a0<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

BATTLE WONDER(FR)<\/SPAN><\/B> \u2013 trained by chilimac1<\/I> \u2013 9\/1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

This colt is the second of a pair of newly un-maidened runners.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He won convincingly last time out, gaining 2-1\/2 lengths on the second place finisher over the stretch.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This will be a big jump up though; he\u2019ll be facing much faster front-runners and closers in this field.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>If he doesn\u2019t fall too far behind in the first 4 furlongs he\u2019ll have an excellent shot at the money.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>

MELLOWING<\/SPAN><\/B> \u2013 trained by deeprock12<\/I> \u2013 8\/1<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

This colt has quite a bit of race experience compared to the rest of the field having left the gate seven times this year.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>However, five of those races were in the maiden ranks, and the last two in Allowances.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>He ran a huge 87SP last time out and a repeat in this company could earn him the win, despite what the bookies think.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P>
