Arch was a successful runner on the track in a limited number of starts, has a nice pedigree to work with and is producing in real life. All three are indicators he will be successful in the sim and so far his numbers appear very solid.

Real Life- Arch is by Kris S. His dam sire is <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Danzig and his dam’s dam sire is Alydar. His dosage index is 1.90 with several stamina influences. He was a solid race horse winning five of seven lifetime starts finishing second one other time. He was twice a graded winner in long routes on the dirt. The grade III Fayette Stakes at a mile and three sixteenths over Touch Gold and he won the grade I Super Derby when it was run at a mile and a quarter.

He has five crops of racing age with eleven graded stakes winners already five of which are grade I winners. This year alone he has three grade I winners. Pine Island, Arravale, and Les Arcs who is a dual grade I winner in Europe taking the Golden Jubilee and the prestigious July Cup. He is producing grade I winners on both surfaces with runners running short or long. Most of his runners are preferring route races.

He is getting 18% stakes winners in his young stud career so far. Ribot is present in two of his three grade I winners this year and inbreeding to Never Bend is present in two of the three as well. You see him crossed with Mr. Prospector line dam sires more than anything. You will see an inbreeding or two to Hail to Reason and Northern Dancer. Seattle Slew was used as a dam sire on a couple of occasions with success.

Sim Life – Arch has eighty-one current sim runners. He has four stakes winning runners two on turf and two on the dirt. He does not have a graded stakes winner in the sim yet. Two of his stakes winners have been good in sprints, which is a little surprising given Arch’s stamina. The dam sires were Spinning World, Nashua, General Assembly, and General Meeting. A little of everything mixed into the pedigrees.

He has produced a stakes winner in four of his last five crops, only his two year old crop has yet to produce a stakes winner. That is pretty solid considering he is only getting used about twenty-two or twenty-three times each crop. He seems to be producing equally on dirt and turf with a mix of sprinters and routers.

Breeding Suggestions – Sons of Mr. Prospector and Seattle Slew seem very good choices as dam sires with Arch. Seeking the Gold has been a good nick in real life and would be a good fit here in the sim as well. The list of Mr. Prospector sons that would make good fits seems long with Woodman, Machiavellian, Forty Niner, Gone West, Miswaki, Carson City, Gulch, Silver Ghost, and Fappiano. Grandsons like Unbridled and Cryptoclearance also seem good choices.

The Seattle Slew line seems a natural fit with A.P. Indy, Capote, General Meeting, Septieme Ciel, Seattle Song, Slewpy and Slewacide. The Ribot line seems to be a factor in real life and why not with some solid influences like Pleasant Colony, His Majesty, Arts and Letters, Cormorant, Key to the Mint, Hoist the Flag, and Run the Gantlet.

If you go with a Northern Dancer line dam sire I would go with grandsons of Northern Dancer for balanced inbreeding. Deputy Minister, El Prado (IRE), Summer Squall, and Stravinsky seem good fits. I also like Blushing Groom and sons as well.

There are a bunch of solid off the beaten path sire lines that would seem to work well with Arch. Diesis (GB) is well known but a solid choice, Caro line dam sires like Cozzene and With Approval. Sharpen Up (GB), Shirley Heights, Darshaan, and Kaldoun.

Arch (10907) X Machiavellian (3707) X Hoist the Flag (2812)

Arch (10907) X Singspiel (5869) X Slewpy (5965)

Arch (10907) X Diesis (GB) (1665) X Blushing Groom (FR) (669)

Arch (10907) X With Approval (7163) X Sharpen Up (GB) (5761)

What to Expect – Arch seems to produce many different runners that will develop at different times. His runners will more times than not prefer running over a mile. They could like the turf or the dirt so be sure to try both surfaces. His runners will probably not be great at age two he does pass along some stamina to runners and that sometimes means a slower developing runner.

As always if you have any questions, comments, or sire requests please drop me a line at mcbwildcat@aol.com.
