The race runs over seven and a half furlongs of turf, and the track is rated as firm for this week’s racing. The purse is at $50000, and there are stakes points up for grabs, the first for some of these runners. This is the second running of this event, one last year by Jump The Gold, the first of her two stakes wins. This year’s field closely matches the field of last year. Once again, four fillies have taken up the challenge. Once again the odds are close, and they are nearly identical to last year’s card. Favorites are going off at 6/5 and 7/5, with the other two entries both going off at 4/1 odds. With two year old fillies you never can tell who may have a big race, and this one should be a good one.

PP 1) Love Heart Sired by Not For Love, Trained by caar. Love Heart makes her ninth career run in this race. This is he second try at stakes, and she is still looking for her first stakes win. Her first eight starts have netted her a 2-1-1-1-1 record, with a best speed of 72.5, that mark being hit twice this year. Her last start was a stakes run at seven furlongs in North Carolina where she finished second after getting caught in an early speed duel. She has split her career starts evenly between dirt and turf, and while her dirt runs have been passable, she has been at her best on the grass, with three top three finishes in four turf starts. She has been slowly stretching out in distance, and she seems to be responding well to it. Her last two starts were at seven furlongs, and were a couple of her career best. She is a fast starter and she likes to take the field wire to wire. This is a field of fast starters, and she’ll have a fight for that top spot. She has been steadily improving this season, and could have a shot at the exacta if she puts forth her best.

PP 2) Tara Reid(GB) Sired by Kayf Tara(GB), Trained by lgbost2yop. Tara Reid(GB) is one of the favorites here as she makes her eighth career start. Five of her first seven have been in stakes races, and she has two victories at this level. She has earned a 3-1-1-1-1 record in her first seven starts, with a best speed of 82.7, earned in her last start. That race was a stakes at this distance, where she went gate to wire to win her second stakes by two lengths over a field of eight. She has made one dirt start, and her speed was decent, but it was her only career finish worse than fourth, and she switched back to turf in her next start. She has been stretching out as the longer races have become available, and thus far, it seems the further she runs, the faster she gets. She shouldn’t have any problems with the longer distances. She has been running mostly as a deep closer, and while her close was consistent, it was leaving her short in most outings. A faster jump in her last one opened a big lead and no one came close to touching her. Running a bit off the pace in this one could benefit with the fast starters here, but she has shown the speed to challenge this field with whatever break she gets from the gate.

PP 3) Pavlova Inferno Sired by Stravinsky, Trained by wilk. Pavlova Inferno comes into this one as the favorite in her second career start. Not sure what prompted her 6/5 odds here, other than possibly her excellent breeding. This is her first stakes start, coming behind her maiden win. She ran with a slow breaking early field in her maiden run, ekeing out a half length win at six furlongs on dirt. Her breeding says she may have a turf upside, as her sire’s progeny are pretty much split down the middle. A.P. Indy on the dam side tends to lend a bit of stamina, as his progeny tend to mature into routers. She started her last with a midpack starters jump, but was never more than a quarter length off the lead throughout. This race is ripe for a closer, but there are a couple big question marks. First is how she’ll react when she finds herself further out from the pack, in a longer race. Second is whether she will able to stay with the early speed and/or close on the softer surface. I’ll have to take a pass here until I’ve seen her run a couple more times.

PP 4) Absolut Ego Sired by Silver Charm, Trained by absolut. Absolut Ego makes her fifth start here. She has two stakes runs in her first four starts, but she is still seeking that first win at this level. She has earned a 1-1-0-0-2 record in her first four, with a best speed of 75.4, earned in her maiden victory two starts back. He last start was a seven furlong stakes in North Carolina, where she stumbled coming out of the gate and never recovered, being distanced at the wire. Spectators believed she must have injured herself, but she is back on three weeks rest. She has never been off the grass, and with earnings of over eleven thousand a race, there is no real reason to move her. She has never run less than seven furlongs, and seems comfortable in the longer races. She prefers a stalker’s pace, but has trouble if the break is too slow. She shouldn’t have that problem here as there should be plenty of pace early. The question here is what happened to her in that last start, and is she recovered well enough to hold the early pace here.

[2,3,1

post-3130","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews","category-reviews","category-uncategorized
["GET
