The YOU O. K. Memorial Stakes
One mile on Firm Turf
$80,000
Fillies, 2 years old

It was as thrilling a race as you could ask for at the YOU O.K. Memorial in China this weekend. There were five fillies bunched so close that you could throw a blanket over them for the first three quarters of the race and at the finish GREEN DIESIS stuck her nose out and barely nipped A CASE IN POINT at the wire to gather the win.

It was A CASE IN POINT ‘s first win after two disappointing races and her first Stakes trophy. Trainer Pisano2 has to believe that this young filly is going to like the mile better than the sprints and may stretch out even further in time. There are not many things more valuable than a filly that can run those long turf sprints successfully and this girl has that look. She threw a nice 80 SPF and had plenty left at the finish when she caught A CASE IN POINT .

The race began like a Chinese Fire Drill with A CASE IN POINT , MONKEY MAMBO , LET IT SLIDE , MAMBO PAST NOON and our winner taking turns jockeying for the lead and shadowing one another around the track. At the top of the stretch, A CASE IN POINT , GREEN DIESIS and third place finisher LET IT SLIDE , pulled away and set up the thrilling finish at the wire.

I will be watching to see if this pretty young filly can stretch it out even further and make a name for herself in the longer turf Stakes races. She may be a name that you hear for a long, long time.

Good luck to all runners!
