He is the deep closer that eats up ground like there is no tomorrow and the runners here are going to be hard pressed to hold him off. He finished second last time out but that was behind an outstanding performance from future hall of famer Sunnybank Memorial. He did not prep well last year for the Breeder’s Bowl although it did not matter he won the Breeder’s Bowl Turf anyway.

Lex Luthor takes on his older rivals for the first time. He is the new long distance turfer on the block and this year’s Derby De English winner. He is a pace horse enjoying going to the front and playing catch me if you can. Rain God has been very solid all year long once again. He likes to sit just off the pace and that style has accomplished a first or second place finish in twenty-eight of thirty-six career starts. He is coming off a pair of second place runs and turning back to race on just two weeks rest.

Rapid Grey has picked his spots well this year with a couple of grade I wins this year. He is running some very nice speed figures and could easily beat Rain God if he is on his game. He is a deep closer coming from way, way off the pace and Rain God can eat up closers. This should make for an interesting stretch battle.

Hey Zeus is an older crafty veteran that has found good form running in listed stakes. He is the favorite here and what a roll he is on right now. He has won two in a row over the best in his division and had added four more grade I races to his resume this year. He towers above his competitors in this field and his mid closing running style should set up well against this bunch.

Tenpin Gold will add pace to the race. Three races back he ran pretty strong in a grade II at this distance on the lead. He has been very good in races a bit shorter but he seems to fit well in this field. He probably will not hold of Sunnybank Memorial but he has shot at hitting the board.

Jumpin’ Java has run a couple of huge speed figures recently in loner turf races. All four of those wins are grade I races and she is doing it on the front end. She is a very dangerous horse if left alone on the lead and has shown the ability to sit just off the lead. At this point she looks like one of the strongest contenders for the Breeder’s Bowl Turf Distaff.

Spooky Ballet is a deep closing mare that has been around for a while. She ran pretty well at the Equinics this year and put together a nice run winning a grade III a few week back. Cannot Comply is a multiple graded stakes winner this year and your morning line favorite. She has speed and at this distance may set the pace.

In fact two of the other favorites both are stretching out to this distance after recently sprinting or running miles. I Make Stuff Up has been running very well recently and has several stakes wins to his credit. He just missed two back in the Never Ready Sprint with a 111-speed figure. If he shakes loose early he will be very difficult to catch. The seven year old Flying Wild has been running pretty well this year. He is running big speed figures in longer sprints. He has not finished off the board all year long and is the top ranked middle distance turf runner in his division. Unfortunately for him he is a middle distance runner. He can not run a mile and a half with the best and he does not have a bunch of experience at a mile.
