Mizzen Dizzie had only started four times this year winning three of the four including a couple of graded races at a mile. He just did not have it last time out where he did not make the early lead and faded into oblivion.

Mizzen Dizzie should get the lead here with only one other front runner in the race and looks to be setup well to defend his title here. Peintre Indyman looks to be the biggest threat to Mizzen Dizzie. He has been knocking on the door in grade I miles in his last four races. He has a second and three thirds at this level and unlike a lot of others in here he seems well adapted to this distance.

Top Jimmy is from the ever dangerous sdmf barn. He is more experienced at distances a little further than a mile and has done very well. He has a few races near this distance and his cutting back should not affect him much. Still he is a closer will have to close against one of the top front runners. Unprecedented is an outstanding dirt miler and chooses this spot to make his turf debut. His breeding would lead you to believe he can handle the surface, it will be interesting to see how he does against this solid field.

Race: 2965.0316 Mint Julep Dirt Distaff– Grade I – $1,000,000
Track: Kentucky
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 4 years old and up
Distance: One mile on the Dirt

There is no lack of speed in this race. Otto History is the morning line favorite and the more accomplished runner in this field. She has won seven of ten starts and is already a millionaire. She only knows one way of running and that is all out from start to finish. She will have a bunch of runners in here wanting to keep her company on that lead which could set this race up for the upset. A lot of times though one of these speed horses will shake loose and no one catches them.

Jeeravaka is riding and five race win streak and has won six of seven starts this year. Her one loss was at the Equinics and that was also her only start in a stakes race all year. She has a couple of other stakes tries that were forgettable so she still needs to prove she can run with this level of competition. Classic is a filly who could really take advantage of a quick pace. She is a closer who has shown the ability to win a race like this.

Try Kentucky could be a solid long shot play. She has really found her self recently picking up her first allowance win and first stakes win in her last two starts. While she has been on the lead in her recent races she has shown she can sit off the pace. It is a big step up against some very good runners but if I were player the exotics I would not leave her off my ticket.

Race: 2965.7514 Brokeback Mountain – Grade I – $500,000
Track: North Dakota
Restrictions: All horses, 3 years old and up
Distance: One mile on the Dirt

This race has one very dominant figure. Zygote has won four of five starts at a mile and more importantly is running 110+ speed figures on a regular basis. None of the others can say that and run over 110 here for Zygote makes him an easy winner. To go with those huge speed figures is an ideal stalking running style.

The rest of the field is pretty talented with several who seem capable of running on Zygotes level. Soy De Ponce is the kind of runner capable of keeping up with Zygote. He is a grade III winner at this distance recently and runs some pretty solid speed figures. Gathering the Momentum is the second favorite and has run some big speed figures at a mile. To this point he is more accomplished in sprints and seems a bit out of his element at a mile. He is speedy and if he gets the early lead he could prove me wrong winning this in a big way.

Race: 2965.0416 Mint Julep Turf Distaff– Grade I – $1,000,000
Track: New York
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 4 years old and up
Distance: One mile on the Turf

Eleven fillies and mares are led by a heavy favorite in Lake Bemidji. This filly has shown good versatility along with big speed figures on her way from claimer to stakes winner. Her past performances are perfect examples of how an average runner on one surface can blossom when placed on another surface. In her recent races she is a great example of how a very good runner at one distance can blossom into a monster at another.

To say she towers over this field may be an understatement. She will not need to run one of those huge speed figures to win this race and if she does she wins by many lengths. Compensation is the second favorite on the morning line and is a grade I winner at this distance. She still has not approached the speed figures of the favorites recent races.

When left alone on the lead Whispering Sound can run big races. She ran a very good race several back in a grade II. A repeat of that race may not win here but would set her up for the place. Sly Go Lightly (IRE) is a veteran who can run some nice speed figures. She has been off in her last couple of races but this solid stalker could be ready to turn her form around.

Race: 2965.0414 Princess Di Cap – Grade I – $500,000
Track: New York
Restrictions: Fillies and mares, 3 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one eighth on the Turf

Lenny’s great filly Empire Reef leads the way in a very interesting field. This filly is a grade I winner on both turf and dirt. Most of her career has been on the dirt but this year she proved she is equally good on the turf. She is a front runner and that is the type of runner that could be very dangerous here. It could be back to back grade I wins on the turf for this filly.

Getaloadofthis is the second favorite despite most of her success being at longer distances. She had won five in a row before a second place finish last time out. You have to go quite a way back in her past performances to find where she ran in a race this short. I like this angle and think she should do just fine at this distance but could be a little vulnerable to a runner more experienced at the distance like the favorite.

Past the top two runners the field really lacks in depth. There are a couple that seem capable of threatening. Dead Solid Perfect (IRE) is cutting back in distance and that could lead to a speed figure improvement. Be is a deep closer though and will have to work very hard to get into contention. Chopping Hill has not started on turf since her first two career starts. Neither race was very good but she has done a lot of growing up since then.

Race: 2965.0412 Simulated Sports Horse Racing Hall of Fame Stakes – Grade I – $500,000
Track: New York
Restrictions: All horses, 4 years old and up
Distance: A mile and one eighth on the Turf

Seeking Sal leads the way in a race honoring our Hall of Fame inductees. He has won five of his last six races in a season that has really scene him blossom into a top notch turf horse. He is consistently running very fast speed figures and this distance appears to be one of his favorite. He stalks the pace and that means he is always in contention.

New Storm is the second favorite and the second ranked middle distance turf horse behind Seeking Sal. He too has been running big speed figures and has three wins in his last five races. He is a deep closer and that means to win this he is going to have to run down Seeking Sal which is not an ideal position.
Awholenuworld will be out on the front end of this race. If left alone he has shown he can run nice speed figures and this field is not all that big and does not have a lot of speed. Mannart Tornado can win this on his best day. This is a distance he likes winning a G3 three races back with a 113 speed figure. He had an off day last time out if he can bounce back he could be a player.

[4

post-2851","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general
["GET
