She stood in the paddock only being a stakes winner. The 6 week layoff and hopefully the maturity factor would come into play. The race at hand was the Gr 3 Kyoto Highway. Cosmic had run her last 4 races in Japan, so we were local. But this is where the genius trainers make decisions. She had won her last 4 races from last year on this same track. She went through all her non graded conditions, well why not break that too.

In her 1st race of the season, The Gr 3 Kyoto Highway, Cosmic Oasis went off at 6th choice at 9-1. She would break away from the ate mid-pack like she usually does. Spotting the leaders 5 ½ engths with 4 furlongs to go, Cosmic Oasis would start to rev her engines and started picking off horses one by one. At the top of the lane she would be only 2 ¼ lengths back now. She roared off the turn and took the lead at the 1/8 th pole and would coast to an easy 2 length victory. She was now a black type winner.

She would return on March 18th, at Japan one more time for the Gr 3 Nakayama Lady. Going off at 5-1. She would break 3rd this time, a little closer than Tisjuliet wanted her. She would tussle back and forth with the leaders, but would tire in the steretch to finish 4th. Tisjuliet would now aim her for the Gr 2 Turf Queen at 7 ½ f in Victoria. Going off at 7-1, Cosmic Oasis made a late move, but found the distance and step up in class to be a bit much at this time. Tisjuliet would get her a nice useful allowance race to freshen her up. She would break 2nd, coast easy fractions and take over in the stretch to beat 7 others in the unconditioned allowance race. Tisjuliet felt like she was starting to mature now, so was confident in getting her into the Gr 2 Winter Forest at 8f. She would break second to the speedy Bring Your Bulbs, a Gr 1 winner. Bring your bulbs was winging it on the front end and went up by 5 down the backside. B Wu wanted to keep Cosmic Oasis in striking distance, but try not to use up to much horse. As they turned for home briefly took the lead, but was run down by 2 deep closers wo had timed their move correct. Tisjuliet now knew that she was ready for the bigger dances yet to come.

The Gr 1 Start Up is a huge race in Deauville France. The purse was $500,000 dollars. Tis was ready to test the 4yr old bay mare now. The field was stellar with 4 Gr 1 winners in the field. Cosmic Oasis would go off at 7-1 I the 14 horse field. She would break 4th, by 4 ½ lengths and be content to sit that way down the backside. Around the far turn, Cosmic Oasis would start toward the leaders. She would collar the lead at the top of the lane. She would widen her margin trough the stretch and hold off Teofilo Cat by a measured ¼ of a length. Cosmic Oasis was now a Gr 1 winner. She was clocked for the mile in 1:34 and earned a 111 speed number for the victory.

Cosmic Oasis would be given 6 weeks off, but returned in the Gr 2 Mother Stakes in Ireland. She would again face 13 others and B Wu would have the reigns again. Going off at 2nd choice 6-1, Cosmic Oasis would sit near the front again in 3rd place. She again would stay that way throughout, and started to make her move at the stretch. She found herself in a dogfight with Gr2 winner Joy Of Streaking, When the hit the wire, the photo revealed that Joy Of Streaking would win the prize by a quarter of a length.

Cosmic Oasis had one more Gr 1 winner that could help her solidify her Horse Of The Year Miler honors. The Gr 1 Motherly Love Stakes in California is a premier mile race in the USA. In the race would be 3 other Gr 1 winners, including Filet Of Skunk, a End Of Year winner as well. Tisjuliet was confident even though Cosmic had faltered in her last event. The gates were loaded, and the bell sounded to the roarof the crowd. Cosmic Oasis would break 5th. She was in a good spot and would be content to sit their throughout the backstretch. As they made the far turn, S. Tate would now get into Cosmic Oasis and she responded immediately. As they reached the top of the stretch, Cosmic was in full flight. She took the lead as they past the 1/8 th pole and was in full gear. The 2 closers would not get to her today. She won the race with a 134.2 and earned a 111 speed number. She was now a 2 time Gr 1 winner for the year.

Cosmic Oasis had a mavelous year and ducked nobody. She won 2 big mile gr 1 races and is a deserved champion.
