Short field today for The ORIANA Challenge contested at six furlong on the turf for two year olds. Only four going postward. May have been the threat of SKIN O’MY TEETH looming that scared a couple or trainers, or may have been the condition of the turf, which has been shaky at best here at Arizona Downs, no rain plus broken sprinkler system = bad grass.\u00a0 So lets take a look at the field for the ORIANA Challenge.<\/P>

line favorite at 4\/5 is untested this is her debut race, dont know if that says alot about the breeding, the jockey, or the lack of respect for the other runners in this race. Horse is well bred, but it is hard to get a stakes win in your debut, so if betting the race personally I think that this is a favorite that you can bet against,she may surprise, but that is just what it would be is a surprise.
Running out of post position two is METAL CIRCUS- the longshot of the race. Actually broke her maiden on the grass second time out (first time on the grass) with a eye popping 73, since then has bounced slightly in her two races since then and I would guess that would be the reason for the high odds, but has been competitive, and with 3 decent races on the sod it will be tough to totally dismiss this one, will factor in the outcome, and at 8-1 and a short field may be a smart play.
Running out of post position three is PEGAWAKI- Morning line second choice,First time on the grass, ran a nice 81 last time out, on the dirt in a second place finish against stakes competition. Curious to why shorblue6 decided this was the time to switch surfaces, when asked shorblue6 just winked and said “this horses best is yet to come” so maybe he knows something that we don’t. Miswaki has thrown his share of winners on the sod and FUSAICHI PEGASUS has always been thought to have some turf ability, so maybe shorblue6 is on to something here.
Running out of post position four is SAPPHO- Morning line 5\/2. Broke maiden at first asking with an impressive 70 speed figure, however has yet to improve on that number.\u00a0 Ran a decent race last time out against grade one company, but failed to move in the final two furlongs. proving what knightess thought, that this horse was not ready for the distance but nothing ventured nothing gained. anyway looks like she is in a race that she can be competitive in probably second here unless it improves in this spot.
