CONTENDER who has now finished in the top three for the third time in the series, had challenged the host MEAT LOAF LOOP before the race and looked like a runaway winner at the 5 furlong pole. He didn’t count on the extra gear that DEPUTY WOOD had though when he flew by like an old man trying to get to the front Bingo Table and won easily.

A. CONTENDER and newcomer GATOR PETE started off this race like they wanted to be the first at the Social Security check window. At the half way point, our eventual winner was buried in ninth place. He and BURG GROOVING started moving at the top of the stretch and ran down the leaders like they were pulling a chariot. In the end, they both flew through the crowd picking them off one by one. A. CONTENDER tried to hold on but he didn’t quite have enough energy left to hold off our winner and finished third. The future of the series looks exciting as long as some of them don’t decide to retire and collect their Social Security.

For the fifth consecutive race, our host MEAT LOAF LOOP ended up being a good host and letting someone else win although he did finish sixth after a promising run. Because he didn’t win this time, that means the next race will still be an allowance for NW2y and that counts out our Series leaders, RASPUTIN and DEPUTY WOOD along with third place holder EMINENT MINSTREL unless “Meaty” can win again. There are now three races left in the ten race series and lots of things can happen including quite a few heart attacks and strokes among the participants, so it should be interesting down the road. That’s what makes this series so much fun. There are lots of folks dreaming of catching the series leaders, who are not eligible to run in the next race. We are waiting for the next race in the series in four weeks during Week 2979 to see if anyone can move up the list.

Stay tuned! Best of luck to all of these fine old guys and gals!

The Standings to date in the series:

Rasputin 15 Points

Deputy Wood 15

Eminent Minstrel 12

Meat Loaf Loop 6

A.
