A lot of excellent fillies that have shown class, determination and heart. Let’s get down to the important stuff and take a closer look at each competitor.

#1 GR Simsters Owned/trained by Deadnthelane – Mirari’s Wake shares similar bloodlines to another runner, the filly Dynadragon, being by the Irish stallion North Light out of a Carson City/Dynaformer mare. This lovely filly is undefeated, 2 for 2. She easily won her MSW debut with a 69 SF. Mirari‘s Wake came back in a 6F turf allowance to prevail by ½ length with a 67 SF. She has wired the field in both starts, and looks like she will be on the lead with Devil’s Snare.

#2 Vermont Owned/trained by Kingman– Addiction Pending is a long legged Bahri daughter out of a nicely bred Kingmambo mare. Although her dam Skogby Mambo Queen couldn’t do much on the track, Addiction Pending has all the promise in the world. This big filly has only started once, running second by 1 ½ lengths in a 6f MSW in CA. However, the track was only rated good, and that could have a lot to do with the second. I wouldn’t be surprised if this filly came out of the gate ready to run.

#3 KY Horsemen Owned/trained by Fabman– Turtle Powered is a very impressive Halory Hunter daughter that has only gotten better each time she has stepped onto the course. With a record of three starts, two wins and one second, you have to respect her. After winning her first start by 1 ¼ lengths, then just missing her second win by the same distance, she came back in very nice fashion in the 6.5 F Storm the West Handicap Stakes. Turtle Powered ran a very nice stalking race to finish 1 ¾ lengths in front, posting a LTH SF of 74.

#4 GR Simsters Owned/trained by Lenny – Yet another daughter of the excellent stallion North Light (IRE), Lightseeker is also another undefeated filly. Of course, this pretty chestnut filly with Awesome Again and Seeking the Gold in her pedigree has only raced once. However, that first race was an eye opener. Lightseeker debuted in a 6F turf MSW over a track rated “good,” and after sitting in the back of the pack, made a very nice move to take command and galloped home much the best by 1 ¾ lengths. She covered the distance in 1:12 1/5, earning a SF of 72. Definitely a 2yo I will be watching.

#5 Vermont Owned/trained by Thechef– Poison Pie is by the English stallion Diesis, out of the consistent Chef’s Surprise. Poison Pie also had her first start over the dirt, disliking it enough to finish seventh. She then came back in a 6F turf MSW, where she wired the field and won by two lengths. Next up was a stakes-placed effort in the S. Coon Handicap Stakes, where she ran second by a ¼ length and earned a SF of 61. Last time out, Poison Pie started in the G1 Fauster’s Juvenile Cup, where she ran a very good race, but tired in the stretch to finish fourth.

#6 KY Horsemen Owned/trained by Hot2trot – Almarazi(IRE) is by the little known Fairy King stallion Almushtarak (IRE). This certainly hasn’t hurt her any, as her record of 4 races, three wins, two of those stakes, can certainly attest. Her last two races, both stakes, she has shown a very large amount of ability. Almarazi’s first stakes win, the 6.5 F Strike the Pose Memorial Stakes, she cantered home 3 ½ lengths in front with an easy 64 SF. Last out, she posted a convincing 2 ½ length win in the 5.5 F Conil Special Stakes.

#7 GR Simsters Owned/trained by WarEmblem – Serpent Breath is a beautiful little filly with royal bloodlines. By Azamour and out of a Gone West/Sadler’s Wells mare, Serpent Breath certainly lives up to her potential. She easily wired the field in her first start, a 6F MSW turf race over a firm track. She earned a nice 65 SF for the race while winning by 1 ¼ lengths. Her next start out was a high dollar turf NW2L, where she blazed at the front for much of the race, only to tire and finish fourth by 1 ¾ length. She still managed to post a SF of 74. Perhaps Serpent Breath will find it in her to “blow away” the competition. J

#8 KY Horsemen Owned/trained by Buzz-The Buzz stables’ VVV(IRE), by Irish stallion Refuse to Bend and out of the Grade 2 winning mare Double State, is another very nice filly with a few races under her belt already. VVV has raced four times. She came home second her first two times on the track, but showed enough determination that her owner felt she could handle the higher levels of competition. Her third lifetime start, she justified that faith by roaring up from the back of the back in a 6F MSW to win by a length. VVV earned a 73 SF for the win. Her next start, a NW2L allowance, she tried hard to get to the front in time, but ran out of track and had to settle for fourth. I have a feeling this big filly is aching for some more room to get rolling, and she should enjoy this extra distance.

#9 KY Horsemen Owned/trained by Bulletwork– The lovely brown filly Classic Alibi has a fitting name, as she has class written all over her. From her pedigree- Sadler’s Wells is her sire, out of a Gone West/Buckpasser mare- to her first start, Bulletworks’ filly has shown nothing but class. Although she has only gone to the wire once, Classic Alibi showed her grit by winning a 6F high dollar MSW by a head. She earned a SF of 72 for the effort. Definitely a gal to watch.

#10 KY Horsemen Owned/trained by Yochem– There are few sim pedigrees as illustrious as Street Girl’s. Her dam is Sexy Girl, a Sadler’s Wells x Storm Cat daughter. While Sexy Girl did well on the track, retiring with $31k in earnings, she has utterly excelled as a broodmare. Four foals to race, four stakes placed or stakes winning progeny. The three oldest have all earned over $100,000 each. That is a steep example for a two year old filly to live up to. However, Street Girl is already stakes placed, so she is well on her way. She broke her maiden in her second start, then wheeled back into the 6F Phone Buda Challenge Stakes, finishing second by ¾ of a length with a 72 SF. She did face Grade I stakes company last time out, finishing a late closing 6th. This is another filly that I think will benefit from the added distance.

#11 Vermont Owned/trained by Lasthope1– By one of the most highly anticipated sires to hit the sim in years, Price Canyon appears to be developing into something worth waiting for. By Rock Hard Ten, out of a Forty Niner x Northern Dancer mare, Price Canyon ran her first two starts over the dirt. She ran two fairly ho-hum races, earning bookend SF’s of 60 in both races. Trainer Lasthope1 then switched this mammoth brown filly to the turf, and she really liked it. Price Canyon uncoiled those long legs of hers and came thundering from mid-pack to win easily by one length, earning a 70 SF along the way. She certainly looks like she will enjoy the extra distance.

#12 GR Simsters Owned/trained by Lenny – Devil’s Snare – This solidly built North Light (IRE) daughter is out of the very nice Deputy Minister mare Deputy Flanders. Besides having a stakes winning dam, Devil’s Snare has a very accomplished older brother, the three year old colt Creepshow. Creepshow is a Multiple Graded stakes winner and has already earned over a million dollars. Devil’s Snare is doing her best to live up to her big brother’s example. She is undefeated, two wins in two races. Her first race, a 6 furlong turf $48k MSW, she broke from the gate like a shot, and proceeded to wire the field. She crossed under the wire a ½ length in front, to earn a SF of 68. Her second race was a NW2L allowance, again over 6F on a firm turf course. The end result was much the same, with Devil’s Snare wiring the field, only this time she won by a very comfortable margin of 2 ¼ lengths and scored a SF of 67. This filly has yet to be tried, and if her pedigree has any say, should relish the added distance.

#13 Vermont Owned/trained by Noranadia– There once was a Mr. Prospector x Seattle Slew daughter named Pro Seattle… she managed to do fairly well on the track, earning $36k and winning a few races. However, she was then retired and bred to leading sire Storm Cat, producing the filly Storm in Seattle. Storm in Seattle was not only was a stakes winner, she earned over $140,000. Not bad for a first foal. Pro Seattle had some fertility problems the next couple of years, then had two more foals, nothing too exciting… and then she was bred to Lammtarra. The resulting filly was named Taradiddle. Taradiddle is showing all the early promise of her older sister. Having only raced twice, this tiny filly has one win and one third. She has an incredible late kick in the stretch that should do her worlds of good as the distances stretch out. Taradiddle won her second start by an easy 2 ¾ lengths, earning a 70 SF in the process. Should be dangerous going 7 furlongs.

#14 GR Simsters Owned/trained by Given – Dynadragon is by the exceptional racehorse and first year sire Kitten’s Joy. This incredibly beautiful dark grey filly has class written all over her, from her pedigree (her dam is the Dynaformer Stakes winner Dynapasser) to her race record (2 races, 1 win and 1 second.) In her first race, Dynadragon couldn’t quite get up for the win in a 6F turf MSW. She corrected that in her second start, taking a 5.5F turf MSW by a hard fought ¼ length to earn a SF of 68. This is yet another filly with route written all over her, at least according to her bloodlines.

#15 Vermont Owned/trained by Foxon5– Foxon5 has the speedball of the field in the War Chant daughter Copper Finch. Copper Finch started her first time out over a 5 F dirt course, which she clearly hated. She was wheeled back in a 6F turf MSW, where she ran a respectable SF of 68 to finish second. Next up, a rather bold move, another 6F MSW… but this time, against the boys. And this time, the result was much different. Copper Finch absolutely blew away her competition, stepping up to the challenge. She ran a very nice SF of 78, and holding off a determined charge, won by one length. If she runs back to this form, she could be a very tough filly to get past.

Good luck to all of the runners! J

[2

post-2739","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
