WAQWHAT"},"content":{"rendered":"
Hello everybody welcolme to Illinois for The feature event of the day the Grade 3 Inner City Sprint to be ran over 7 furlongs on fast dirt for fillies and mares 3yo and up. With top horses such as no 3 ranked MS. WAQWHAT no 5 PUENTELARRA no 10 SPINNING NINES and a host of othe top up and comming hores this is sure to be a great race so let’s take a look at the form guide and see if we can find a winner.<\/p>\n
PP1
STAKED CLAIM
Game Dam : MAMA SHANNON Current Owner: oddly 5\/1 M Reveiz
MINING x WITH APPROVAL x TOM ROLFE
After a fantastic year last year where she claimed the Time To Say Goodbye-G1 TRICKY DANCER is struggling to find her form this year. She has contested 3 G2 events and has not raeched an Sp over 100. I feel as though she will need to run a lot faster than that to be able to beat this field and M Reveiz will have to get some luck in running as she will get well back in the field but untill I see her put in a good race I won’t be betting on her as she is way under the odds.
PP2
TRICKY DANCER \tCurrent Owner: krstables 99\/1 I Dubbs \t
MAZEL TRICK x A. P. DANCER x METFIELD
krstables has set TRICKY DANCER an almost impossible task as this daughter of MAZEL TRICK would be more suited in an allowence not such a high standered race like this. I Dubbs must be wondering what he let himself in for. Iexpect to see her running about mid pack before making her run (backwards) about 3.5 furlongs from home. Goodluck anyway (I had a horse win at 99\/1 last week).\t
PP3
GOVE VINDICATED Current Owner: wildcatuk 8\/1 B Reimers \t
VINDICATION x SECRETARIAT x RAISE A NATIVE
After starting her career with 3 stakes wins GOVE VINDICATED has turned into a very nice filly. Lightly raced as a 3yo she has started to mature. So far this year she has had 4 stake races for 3 2nds and a 4th with some very good speed figures. Although she has not won I think she can handle the step up in class and maybe the horse that could cause a supprise. B Reimers will have to have the race of his life but from an inside gate and a position on the pace will this be the race that turns
GOVE VINDICATED from a pretender to a contender?
PP4
DRY GULLY GIRL(IRE) Current Owner: kensei 7\/1 D McCants
GIANT’S CAUSEWAY (IRE) x MISWAKI x ROBERTO
Up and comming filly looking for her first graded win. This daughter of GIANT’S CAUSEWAY has not quite been the same horse as she was last season even though she has won her last 2 and will have to improve her speed figure to have a good chance of winning. D McCants will be looking to sit next to the lead but if she did lead I wouldn’t be supprised. If she gets to go out with an easy pace she may be able to stack the field behind her and make it a sprint home.
PP5
SPINNING NINES
Game Dam : FRESH BOOM Current Owner: gorgeous 4\/1 H Zoon \t
SPINNING WORLD x FORTY NINER x AUCTION RING
3 time stake winner who just can’t quite crack it for a stakes win but is still one of the top picks as she has been in fantastic form winning the \tThe MRS. KRIS S. KEY Handicap-Stk last start and has also been top 5 in every race she has contested this year including 2 racesin G2 company and 1 at G3 level. Her last 3 races she has had sp’s of 103, 106 and 107. However she has the obsticle of having such a bad jockey in H Zoon who has won 2 from 69 starts this season, but the stable has a 25% winning strikerate and would be considred one of the best in the sim (but forgot to put in there jockey selections). Look for the horse to settle in about 4th spot just off the speed.
PP6
MS. WAQWHAT
Game Dam : LUCK SLIDING Current Owner: apa 7\/1 L Waymer \t
WAQUOIT x MR. PROSPECTOR x WHAT LUCK
apa has been full of confince of late as his mare MS. WAQWHAT a former turfer now dirter is having the year of her life. So far this year she has won 2 stakes race a Grade 3 and The Grade 1 CASH ASMUSSEN. Last start she defeated PUENTELARRA and like PUENTELARRA will also be suited by the rise in distance. The downside is that L Waymer has got the ride and to me that makes MS. WAQWHAT an outsider as L Waymer has a winning % of only 1.8 this season. It is difficult to say where she will sit in the run as she can go back as far as mid pack or she can sit on the speed, I suspect if there is not much pace on she will go forward. I can’t pick her because her jockey is crap.
PP7
JACKDAW CASTLE Current Owner: mccoy 7\/1 N Lewis \t
FORTY NINER x TOUCH GOLD x CARO(IRE)
JACKDAW CASTLE has always been a good horse but now she is starting to prove a valuble asset for the mccoy stables she is a two time stake winner who lost form when she steped up to G2 level 4 starts back but she proved last time out she can still make the big time with a nice win in allowence company. I do however think she would be better suited to a stakes race as I think that at this stage G3 is just a fraction to hard. N Lewis takes the ride and he will try to go wire to wire. As there is absolutly no pace in this race she might be able to catch a break and be hard to run down, but I think she will need to grow an extra leg at the furlong pole to hold the rest out.
PP8
BRING THE PAIN
Game Dam : BILL’S GIRL FOR U Current Owner: futurestar 8\/1 G Lauer \t
DEHERE x PULPIT x NUREYEV
Wow this horse has gone from zero to hero in the past year. After being put in a maiden claim at which she lost by 17 lengths on turf she was claimed then won her maiden and then went to auction and won 8 out of 9 races to end her 3yo campaign so far this year she has raced in 7 stake races for 2 wins and 6 2nds and last time out equiled her career best where she posted a 106 speed figure. The question is can make the next step and get graded glory. G Lauer picks up the ride and he is very confident and will sit next to the leaders rather than further back because there is no speed in the race. A good outside chance.
PP9
BUSTED IN DIXIE
Game Dam : DIXIE ROUGE Current Owner: yahoo 29\/1 A Ching \t
HOUSEBUSTER x DIXIELAND BAND x T. V. COMMERCIAL
Not bad as a 3yo wher she picked up a stakes victoy BUSTED IN DIXIE has only ran in 3 allowence races this year and has not been in the best of form. She had a very poor run 2 starts back and was layed off for 77 days before she came back to run 2nd in allowence company. I just don’t think she has it in her anymore to run at this level. A Ching has the ride and she will settle last and might pass a couple but she is no chance. It might be time to send her to the breeding barn.
PP10
NIGHTHAWK JILL Current Owner: 4nighthawk 17\/1 C Noe \t
LEMON DROP KID x KINGMAMBO x SEATTLE SLEW
Very well bred 4yo who has been going o.k. in allowence races and deserves her chance in stakes races but she is being steped up to high and will struggle to keep up with the top horses in this race. Last start she ran O.k. in The MRS. KRIS S. KEY Handicap-Stk finnishing 6 lengths from the winner but the extra step up in class will prove way to much. Look for Noe to sit the horse near the front.
PP11
PUENTELARRA Current Owner: har 9\/2 R Logan \t
SADLER’S WELLS x NASHUA x SIR GAYLORD
2 time grade 1 winner and has 8 races to her credit at stake and graded level who is trying to turn some bad form around and almost did so last time out just falling to short MS. WAQWHAT in the Ferry Dust Handicap-G3 over 6 furlongs. The move up to 7 furlongs must be considereed an advantage as her best races have come at 7 furlongs. The other very big factor is that har (who has over 1000 races in experience) has managed to secure R Logan as his jockey. I expect to see PUENTELARRA sitting on the pace in this and looking to steal the race at the 3 furlong pole.
PP12
BETRAY THE NIGHT Current Owner: wiz 15\/1 T Balwin \t
LANGFUHR x CHIEFTAIN x NEARCTIC
The last runner is BETRAY THE NIGHT who ran a fantastic race last time stepping up to grade 3 level to run 3rd from way back in the field and she ran a speed figure of 104 in the race before that. Even though she is a 4 time stakes winner she still needs to prove she belongs at this level as she is getting on in years. T Balwin takes the ride and will look to position the horse at the back of the field and make up ground late.<\/p>\n
After all of that my selection is PUENTELARRA although beaten by MS. WAQWHAT last start I think the jockey factor will make all the differnce. I also think GOVE VINDICATED and BRING THE PAIN will run nice races as a couple of horses with an outside chance. SPINNING NINES and MS. WAQWHAT would have been amoungst my winning chances but the owners\/trainers got the 2 worst jockeys in Illinois riding there horses but they may still run a place.
