{"id":2617,"date":"2006-06-07T18:02:06","date_gmt":"2006-06-07T18:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blacktypebugler.com\/?p=2617"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","slug":"oldbtb_2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/btb.ehorseracing.com\/?p=2617","title":{"rendered":"No Option Stakes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><SPAN style=\"mso-tab-count: 1\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The 1<SUP>st<\/SUP> running of the No Option Stakes in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags\" \/><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Northern California<\/st1:place> drew a short field of four Saturday.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The main reason for the short field, most people believe around here, is that the O\/T steered clear of the favorite <STRONG>Falling Sky.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Falling Sky<\/STRONG> had just posted a triple figure, while finishing third, in the Grade III Latonia Stakes one month before.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN><STRONG>Falling Sky<\/STRONG> was also a winner of five of its ten races.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The only threat seemed to be from <STRONG>Captivating<\/STRONG>, but this race horse finished 5th in the same Latonia Stakes nearly four lengths behind <STRONG>Falling Sky<\/STRONG>.<\/P><P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office\" \/><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P><P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt\"><o:p>\u00a0<\/o:p><\/P><P class=MsoNormal style=\"MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt; TEXT-INDENT: 0.5in\">At the start <STRONG>Good C<\/STRONG>ause tried run away from this short field, but was captured in the turn by the favorite <STRONG>Falling Sky<\/STRONG>.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>These two battled around the turn nose to nose heading into the stretch.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN><STRONG>Captivating<\/STRONG>, which had been sitting back watching the front runners burn up their energy, raced past <STRONG>Falling Sky<\/STRONG> in the stretch and driving home easily at 2 1\/4 length BIG WIN.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN><STRONG>Falling Sky<\/STRONG> had been the projected favorite but <STRONG>Captivating<\/STRONG> was primed and ready for this showdown earning a 96 speed rating in the race.<SPAN style=\"mso-spacerun: yes\">\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The question this reporter still has is <STRONG>Captivating<\/STRONG> a sprint horse or a miler?
