It appears that it doesn\u2019t matter whether GREY ICE <\/b> runs on the lead or comes from behind at four and a half furlongs as she has now won two in a row in entirely different ways. Either way, she looked awfully promising in the Unusual Circumstances Stake race here in Kansas today.<\/p>\n

After a fifth place finish in her first race, she moved back to four and a half and now has won two in a row. She won the first in a small field maiden by taking the lead and holding off all challengers. This time she moved in a bit behind the leaders and moved into another gear in the stretch that allowed here to move by the other horses like they were standing still. Trainer CrandyIII was ecstatic after the race as was expected after the strong winning performance by this filly. <\/p>\n

MOCHACHINO’S QUEST <\/b>, chosen by most to win this race, jumped out to the early lead and looked as if she was going to run away and hide. She might have won if she wasn\u2019t passed by a blazing rocket down the stretch which turned out to be our winner. EXALTED CAT <\/b> also had an extremely strong finish from way back but couldn\u2019t catch the top two. She may have to make her move just a bit earlier next time out.<\/p>\n

Now the problem for CrandyIII is to decide whether to try and stretch this filly out a bit or keep her where she seems so comfortable in these short races. The short trips become harder and harder to come by and that may dictate her future racing plans.<\/p>\n
