Middle Jewel day continues here today in our 12th<\/SUP> race which pits three of the top ten ranked fillies and mares in the classic dirt division against each other.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Although we have 12 runners, it seems like a three horse race with Waki Notion, Squall Is A Storm <\/B>and Empire Reef <\/B>much the better against the rest of the pack.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>One of the long shots may get a nose up in the last few strides to steal 3rd<\/SUP> and ruin a few trifecta tickets as it looks like the best bet today would be an across the board bet with one of the three horses mentioned above.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>If you wish to make a stab at the trifecta then I suggest you wheel some of the long shots at the back as a tri-box with the favorites doesn\u2019t seem to return enough to warrant the bet.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Check my picks at the bottom of the page.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

The #5 ranked Waki Notion <\/B>enters our morning line favorite and deservedly so.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>As a winner of five graded stakes, she is the one to beat.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Her last win came two races back in the Willie Shoemaker G-1<\/U> where she showed her now famous closing style coming from as far back as 19th<\/SUP> place to win by almost 3 lengths.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She shortens up just a bit today but is coming off a 8 week layoff and I wonder if she\u2019s fully ready to give her best.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She is facing some stiff competition but if the pace sets up correctly you should see her come flying as they enter the second turn.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>With the most consistent numbers and having already proved herself against the next best two, I would still have to say that it\u2019s her race to lose.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Sandwiched in the gates between the other two favorites, Squall Is A Storm, <\/B>the #6 ranked mare has been up and down for the last six months.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>While she has put up some good number\u2019s she hasn\u2019t managed to find the winner\u2019s circle in her last ten races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Her last win dates back to July 30th<\/SUP> of last year although she has managed a few second place finishes.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This is not the first time that Waki Notion, Empire Reef <\/B>and Squall Is A Storm <\/B>have mixed it up.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>However, Waki Notion <\/B>seems to have the upper hand each time.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Trainer meguire4th <\/I>is not used to loses as he is one of the most highly respected trainer in the business and along with his other stables have managed to place among the elite in win percentages.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>This filly will need a win here in order to keep that top 10 ranking but she\u2019ll have to show a bit more than what she has lately.<\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>

Making a move from an allowance runner to graded stakes contender, Saint Thunder <\/B>has a duel personality.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Looking back at her past performances, you have no idea which horse is going to show up at the race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>In just her last few races she has posted speed ratings of 92, 101, 81, 94, 86, 101, 103.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Those last two races have netted her the win but I\u2019m not sure if the move to graded company is the right move.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She does have one non-graded win which she won last year but this race seems to set up nicely to the top three favorites and it would take a career best to upset them today.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>\u00a0<\/SPAN><\/o:p><\/SPAN><\/P>
