The fact is that before the race, Moneygrowsontrees was one of fourteen chances in a star-studded field, but after the event, it would appear that no matter how many times the race were to be re-run, the result would be the same, at least from the winner’s perspective. Such was the authority with which he stormed to the most convincing of victories.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Perhaps unexpectedly, Big Poppa Pump and Indian Cat T flew the gates and contested the early lead. Fly’s Motivator out wide moved forward early while Red Vise kicked up on the inside to gain the rail. The remainder of the field jostled for position with no more than two lengths separating fifth and fourteenth, once they had settled. With such a tightly bunched field early, it appeared that a frantic scramble for home was inevitable, but one combination was determined to spoil the spectacle. Eventual winner, Moneygrowsontrees had dropped out rearwards in the early shuffle, but, like the rest of the field, had refused to surrender more than six lengths to the early leaders. Approaching the half way mark and the race began to take shape. Big Poppa Pump was wearing down Indian Cat T, while Fly’s Motivator was not starting to look good.
