This week features the 3yo fillies, going six furlongs on the dirt course for a purse of $65,000. Let’s take a look at the runners.

On the rail at 3/1 is Bullard Park (Ecton Park x A.P. Indy) owned by lenny7 of the formidable Lennbrenner Empire. She won her first three races in a row, but has been unable to move up in stakes competition in her other three races so far. She did manage to hit the board last time out, though, and has shown improvement. Fred Robbins (9%) will be up.

In post two representing her home track here in Ireland is Grand Dance(Ire) (Daylami(Ire) x Sword Dance(Ire)) owned by quietman49. Her two wins have both come at a mile, but they were both here in Ireland, including her last start. She also gets a return ride from the lovely E C Doyle(9%), who knows how to get the best out of a horse. The cutback in distance may give her a boost, and she presents good value at 9/1.

Can you say bargain? That’s certainly what pokerbarn got when he picked up Hennessy Thunder (Hennessy x Thunder Gulch) two races back for the measly sum of 4 grand. Despite a couple of bad starts on a good turf course and one where she looks to have been eased, she’s only missed the board in a sprint once (that good turf race). Is she stakes quality? Recent form says it’s a good possibility, despite the 12/1 odds. Fred Durst(11%) is in the midst of a career year so far.

In post four at 3/1 is the cleverly named Placid Waters (Peace Rules x Irish River(Fr)) owned by rsb. She’s only won twice, but she hits the board a lot, and just missed out on her first stakes victory last time out by a nose. She’s broken 90 twice, and has top jockey Z. Kentucky(19%) calling the shots.

In post five at 11/1 is another filly who calls Ireland home, Miesque’s Nereid (Miesque’s Son x Danzig) owned by mrfu2. She is stakesplaced (gotta love 4 horse fields) and has done well at every track she’s seen, except for Ireland. With a top speed of 81 she’s pretty much outclassed here, but hopefully with A. Reed(14%) on board, she can beat a couple.

In post six at 5/1 is Greenman (Green Desert x Woodman) owned by hullwayne. Perhaps they were hoping for a colt when they named her, but this big filly hasn’t let it bother her, even running against boys several times. She hasn’t won in awhile, but she’s got a pattern going of running third every other race. Can she do it again this week? F. Dirks(16%) certainly gives her a shot at that or even better.

Rounding out the field is our favourite at 9/5, Soaring Hero(Aus) (Danzero(Aus) x Mr. Prospector), owned by devil. This flying Aussie has won half of her starts, including five turf stakes. She goes right to the front so look for her to take the early lead. With Mizzi Russell(12%) in the saddle, she will be tough to beat if she can transfer her form back to dirt.

That is our field. We may only have one stakeswinner in the bunch, but other than that filly, the rest are pretty closely matched. I could see one of them breaking free of the pack and running down the favourite in the stretch, although it’s just as possible that she will win by several lengths. How ever it turns out, good luck to all the runners, and may they all come home sound.

[2

post-2423","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
