She’s the #1 ranked filly in this division and has an outstanding record of 11(6,4,0) with earnings of over $1.1 million. Also very much worth noting is that she is the 2005 Juvy Filly Eclipse Winner.
With help from Topicount, thanks Laura. No Apagues La Luz I found out also is known as NALL as a short name for her by those who know her. No Apagues La Luz was a song by Enrique Iglesias, the translation of her name in English means “Don’t Turn Off the Lights”. The reason for the use of Empire Maker as a sire was because the owner had high hopes for him and figured he could dish out some great horses and so he has. The owner was originally fatattack, but then got transferred to the Super stables, he sent couple of mares to Empire Maker, this filly of course comes from a he-mare though. The he-mare is named Spirit of Texas and his pedigree is Forty Niner x Danzig x Raise a Native and was put up for the ole sex change for the breeding as a 5yo. Spirit of Texas compiled a record of 37 races with 10 wins and overall 19 times finished in the money. He made over $1.3 million and almost all of that came dirt sprinting however he did break his maiden in a 8f race. As a 4yo he ran 17 times and posted triple digit SP’s from 101 – 124 and 15 of those races came in Graded company including a win in the Sand Castle Golden Sprint-G1. As a 5yo he didn’t do too well in 3 starts and then he went to the breeding shed and that’s how we got NO APAGUES LA LUZ.
I’ll now try and break down NO APAGUES LA LUZ 11 race career and how she got here. In her first career race she tried out a 5f dirt sprint MSW race in which she won with a low 63 SP, but almost none of those horse she beat has done much so she didn’t have to do much to win. She then came back for her 2nd career race after 2 month in May to win a 6f allowance race by a length with a 87 SP and she beat a future graded and stakes winner in that race and this race showed she would be a horse to reckon with if you thought that 63 SP win in her 1st race was bad. In her 3rd career race she raced in a Grade3 6.5f race that just happens to be named “Spirit of Texas” just like from the he-mare she was bred from. She didn’t disappoint her owners or her “mother” as she ran her win streak to 3 and won with a 86 SP also again beating that future Graded winner she beat in her 2nd start. In her 4th career race she ran in a 7f G1 race where she came flying from 12th to finish 2nd with a 88 SP. Her 5th race was in the Margarine Stakes G2, which she tried routing for the first time, she won closing from 11th to win by a head with a 88 SP there as well, she beat the 5th choice in the Bluegrass Oaks here Biter Hollandia. In her 6th race she ran in the Breeder’s Bowl Juvy for Fillies, she once again came closing from the back in 12th to finish 2nd and just miss winning by ¾ lengths; she finished ahead of about 5-6 horses who are in this race as well. She then closed out the year winning the 8.5f 2yo filly DelPenn Champions day race by an easy 2 lengths with a career high 98 SP. This G1 victory helped her win the 2005 Juvy Filly Eclipse award. She raced 4 times this year starting out in a 9f stakes race winning by 1 ¾ lengths with a 88 SP. Then in her 9th career race she ran in a 8.5f G1 race finishing 2nd with a 97 SP getting beat by the 6th choice in the Bluegrass Oaks here Frostfang but she came closing and lost only by ½ length. In her 10th career race she ran in the Florida Oaks finishing 4th with a 96 SP, her worst race of her career. In this race she got beat by the co-1st and 2nd choice in the Bluegrass Oaks AP Sadler and Casa Bonita. Now for her latest race she ran in the G2 Fantasy stakes on a wet track finishing 2nd with a 96 SP, again she got beat by the co- favorite in this Bluegrass oaks AP Sadler.
NO APAGUES LA LUZ is the 10/1 co-favorite in this race with 2 others. She’ll be breaking from post #15 in here probably not the most favorable post. However she hasn’t run too badly in her races with outside posts and she doesn’t really need a good post since she is a closer, only front runners need good posts. There seems to be a little more front/mid pack runners than closers in here so her stay at the back running style should help her in here to come on late. The jockey riding her will be B Renfroe, he’s the 9th rank this week among the jockeys in Kentucky. He’s been riding for 8 years and this year he has come in the money 49% of the time, with a win % of 22.4. She looks good enough to win and has retained her 2yo form and has gotten better and distance doesn’t seem an issue. Only question is if she can make her come from behind move in time to get the win? She’ll probably be running anywhere from 13-18th before making her move.

[7

post-2343","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-horses
["GET
