Love them or hate them, complain about the money they shell out for bluebloods or whatever but this writer has come to the conclusion that this organization has a plan, sticks with it and has proven to be very successful at it and there horses are for the most part an enjoyable and competitive part of the sim horse racing industry.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

BREEDING EMPIRE is a 3 year old colt that will run in today’s race with co-favorite stable mate RHIBUS. These 2 talented colts run out of the GRADETWO stables, which are subsidiary stables of the Super Stables Incorporated Conglomerate that has come down with force for today’s big race from their headquarters on the Delaware/Pennsylvania border. This colt is the second of three out of the retired mare WAVE ON WAVE, who was retired by the FATATTACK stables in 2004 with 5 wins in 22 lifetime starts, with one stakes placing and over $300k in lifetime earnings. The two other foals dropped by this mare include a 4 year old colt that has 4 wins in 15 starts with 90K in earnings and a 2 year old filly who so far is 0/2 with 3K in earnings.

GRADETWO stables bred the talented sire EMPIRE MAKER to this mare with the resulting lineage for BREEDING EMPIRE of EMPIRE MAKER X SEATTLE SLEW X NUREYEV. EMPIRE MAKER has some heady statistics of his own with a record of 69.4% winners, 8.9% stakes winners and 1.7% graded stakes winners with over a whopping $17 million in sired earnings. This breeding has produced a talented colt who is currently ranked 24th in the division and made this field with several higher ranked colts opting for other options.

Things did not go well for BREEDING EMPIRE on Wednesday when the draw for post positions was made in drawing the impossible outside post in this expanded field of 20 starters. Any plans of strategy going into this race now have to rely on racing luck, as it is very doubtful this horse will see the rail at any part of today’s race. The thing going for this colt is he has an ability to adjust his running style to suit the race, as shown by both running successfully near the front and using a closing kick in previous races. This horses connections also have the top ranked colt in the division and may use BREEDING EMPIRE to push some pace in this one to give stable mate RHIBUS some honest fractions to chase with that one’s closing kick. Jockey O.A. Haack gets the call and will be making the decisions once the gate opens. He ships in to Kentucky for this race and brings a lifetime 18% winning rate in his 3 seasons to date, albeit his winning percentage is down to 12.9% this year. He has amassed over $10.5 million in earning so far in his career and does have a knack for coming up big in the money races.

I would expect him to have this colt pressing the pace on the outside in this one and if the racing gods co-operate will have a chance for the top prize in the stretch run albeit this writer would think by getting any piece of the prize money would be looking good for this colt today.

So how did BREEDING EMPIRE get to today’s big race? He comes in with a 12-3-3-3 lifetime mark with over $290k in the bank. His top lifetime speed rating of 99 came in his last start and he has shown positive speed rating improvements throughout his career with his debut 68 speed rating right up to his lifetime best 99 last time out. This is a positive trend for this colt as if he continues improvement no telling what speed he can run in the big race today. He ran 7 times as a 2 year old winning 2 races including 1 stakes race. It was not until his 4th lifetime start when he stretched out to 8 furlongs that he won his maiden race. After his first two starts in Kentucky he moved up into Canada to the Ontario track for his next 2 starts winning his MSW race in his first route try with a 76 speed rating. Superstables sent some of their horses up to Canada to cash in on the high purses up there and with the ever strengthening Canadian dollar this proved to be a profitable move. After winning his MSW race he shipped down to Nevada to run in the OUR DOLLAR CHALLENGE stake for his added money debut finishing 2nd with an 85 speed rating over the mile race. It was then that this cold was shipped overseas to Sweden for a stake that he won his first stakes race after adding a furlong in the DEPUTY GOLD ANT stakes with an 89 speed rating. He returned stateside for his last 2 year old start in the Grade III CLUB STAKES in Nebraska where he finished an even 5th breaking the 90 speed rating barrier for the first time. With all the traveling this cold did in his two year old campaign he was shut down for the year to prepare for his sophomore season.

He started his 3 year old campaign with a 3rd place finish in the DOCTOR ABDUL stakes in Missouri with an 89 speed rating. He won his next outing for his Graded stakes win debut with a 94 speed rating in the Grade III 1000 ISLANDS STAKES in Nebraska and then finished 4th in the Grade II SLEEPY FAN STAKES with a 97 speed rating followed up by his prep for the Derby two weeks ago in the Grade II TEXAS DERBY where he ran an even 2nd around the racetrack posting his lifetime best 99 speed rating. All of his races this year have been at the 8.5 furlong distance and he will have to stretch out an extra furlong for today’s big race.

This talented colt will have some say in today’s matter but with the post position and the quality of the field may find it tough to reach the wire first and may find himself more useful if used to set up the race for his number 1 ranked stablemate. But, if you look at the morning line odds of the big race one thing comes to mind, it will be a wide open race and any entry who decides today is the day to post a lifetime best race may end up with the flowers and trophy at the end of the race.

Good Luck to the SuperStables with BREEDING EMPIRE and the rest of their Derby contingent.

GOOD LUCK AND GOOD RACING.

[7

post-2342","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-horses
["GET
