The EWC had a residency race this weekend and SJ’s Fupeg Jones put in a superb effort in the 7.5 furlong dirt race. \u00a0In the EWC Florida Gulf Coast Stakes, from the moment the door to the gate opened, SJ’s Fupeg Jones immediately took the lead and shrugged off the rest of the field, coasting to the wire with a 92 speed, which undoubtedly will be one of the top speeds for the 2 year old class this week. \u00a0 This win was a third consecutive residency victory, each with increasing speeds. \u00a0 At a very generous 9-1 odds, the winner paid \u00a0$21.80 to backers. \u00a0 Is a journey to grade level in the cards for this colt who has over $235,000 in earnings already? \u00a0Time will tell!<\/p>\n

Awesomism, on the other hand, got off to a slow start. \u00a0The colt ran 11th early on in the field of 17 but was able to pick horses off one at a time making his way into second place, one and a quarter lengths back and a 90 speed which looks to be a potential top 2-year old speed this week. \u00a0The exacta paid over $226.00<\/p>\n

Scotian Jones had a slower start than Awesomism, running 14th in the early stages. \u00a0In his prior race, he finished 9th and this time out he had some nice late run in his legs and powered to the line with an 86 speed and steep 29\/1. \u00a0The long odds created a huge trifecta payout that was more than $6,900.<\/p>\n

A.P.’s Humor was also another slow starter that got things rolling late scoring a fourth place finish with just under three weeks rest. \u00a0A little more distance and the results could have definitely been even better for this lady who had the best finish of the gals in the field.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Bawler Boulevard picked up the final paycheck as far as purse money goes coming in fifth and not showing much. \u00a0After falling about 6 to 7 back that is where he ran for the remainder of the race.<\/p>\n

Kashbration shipped in from Ireland for the race and looked a little weary as he tailed back a smidge towards the end of the race, finishing sixth.<\/p>\n

In seventh was Mr. Zapper who finished seventh. \u00a0After starting in 15th, he bypassed tiring and slower horses to gain this spot.<\/p>\n

LK Posse got away second early on, displaying her early speed but tossed in the towel by the three-quarter poll. \u00a0She completed the race in eighth.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Ninth spot belonged to Harrogate. \u00a0 After an excellent debut in May with 84 speed he was unable to replicate this effort and was not a factor in this event.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Flat Kat looked to live by his name, running flatly and never close to the leaders. \u00a0Took tenth.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Royale Rahy ran fourth from the start but had nothing when asked to run. \u00a0Eleventh was his demise.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
5\/1 co-favorite Felixstowe, who likes to lead, could not keep up with the winner on the front end and was burnt out in the second half of the race, punished into twelve.<\/p>\n

In the unlucky thirteenth spot was Computer Expert who may need some reprogramming. \u00a0 He ran mid-field in early phase of race but caught a virus and sank back to tail side of field.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Tale of the West may have been a bit out of shape after breaking maiden at beginning of month. \u00a0Lost ground throughout event, finishing fourteenth.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Terror….I mean, terrible was the other co-favorite Achmedtheterrorist. \u00a0He had decent fifth place positioning early on and slumbered into fifteenth. \u00a0Dirt does not look agreeable to the only first-time runner in this race.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Sizzle Connection was one of the three horses that held their positioning throughout the entire race. \u00a0the other two were the winner and the last place horse as Sizzle took 16th.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Queen Mary II was the caboose throughout the race and at 48\/1, the longest odds seemed to accurately reflect the expectations of her run.<\/p>\n
