It had all the earmarks of a great race, unfortunately only one horse lived up to expectations. As expected, Wonderboy Edge came from the back and blew by the rest of the field coming around the final turn. He was in such control by then that Jesse Sands eased up on the reins and let him cruise home, which he still was able to win by almost three lengths. Gallic Charm(FR) was able to pull off a place with another good stalking effort. He had no chance of catching the leader although he had a solid if lackluster run. Rounding out the field was Big Wide World(IRE) showing his workman’s attitude was enough to get the job done and get on the board.
Up this week is a meager field of four horses for the $50,000 sprint, Their Diggers Special. This race will once again be on the grass and cover six and a half furlongs for sophomore fillies. Once again the race is named in honor for a horse that barely got a stakes win. Because of this Wyoming is getting a reputation of being a third class race circuit and not drawing any top quality horses. We are able to get very good horses to come but no names in the industry have been to the track in years. All this has just heightened the tension between the WRC and WHOA. Trying to get any comments from either organization is next to impossible as both are maintaining tight lips of late. But, if looks could kill, both organizations would be in need of a lot of new members. The weather for Saturday should be excellent for the main event and three of the top jockeys will be riding. Also, there are a pair of half sisters that will be going head to head for the first time. It should add to the excitement of this race. Here are the four ladies entered.
Brabarossa(AUS) entered by brabant. Coming out of gate one is the first Aussie bred horse to enter in over a year. The chestnut stalker likes this position and has won three times with a second when she is against the rail. This will, though, be her shortest race since the middle of last season. She looks to be shaping up as a classic runner and a sprint may not be to her liking.
Flare For Drama II(IRE) entered by puffqueen. This chestnut filly is entering just her seventh race of her young career and her first on the grass. She is a solid runner that has been struggling this year and the trainer is hoping a change to the turf will take her to the next step. It is hard to say how she will respond to the grass but if her sire Giant’s Causeway has any influence, she should respond well. She will get help with the veteran Vince Gannon in the irons.
Giant Strides(IRE) entered by foxon. This Giant’s Causeway filly will return to sprinting after a brief foray at routing. This gal likes to set the pace forcing the rest of the field to chase her down. This has worked well for her with a fifty percent win rate so far with a place and show thrown in. The only problem, she will have the jockey John Dawg in the irons and he has a tendency of still making rookie mistakes.
Denver Doll entered by denveru. Our last lady is the small chestnut who has not been in the money in only one race of her career. She is a solid front runner but seems to have a slight stamina problem. Even so, she is rarely off the board and one can pretty much expect her to at least pull down a show in the for this race.

[2,3,1

post-2298","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews","category-reviews","category-uncategorized
["GET
