Two disappointing efforts at the beginning of this year showed he did`nt see out the mile trip but, when dropped back to 6 furlongs on his penultimate start, he looked like he`d rediscovered his 2 year old form. In a classy looking 7f allowance race last time out however he could never strike a blow and, as second favourite, finished in the midfield. Still to fully prove he has trained on at 3 and possibly more effective on dirt, 5-1 looks short enough.

2 – 21121 – Tete Drakon – Kartago – B Wu – 9/5fav

Unraced at 2, it has`nt taken long for this son of Diesis to make an impact in the turf Stakes races in Scandinavia. He got off the mark on his second attempt with a huge 98 speed figure going 7f in a maiden at Denmark and then followed that up with a 6.5f Stakes victory in nearby Finland where he beat last week`s G3 Craven winner Third Offer by a comfortable 2 lengths. Back to Denmark for his previous two runs in stakes class, he showed his versatility regarding the distance with a fast finishing 2nd over 8.5f and then, three weeks ago, back to winning ways with a smooth success over 7f in a small field. Kartago must be pleased with the way this horse has been improving and, with one of the leading riders B. Wu aboard, he has a major chance.

3 – 7212743 – Raising Hell – Lazyriver – B Mann – 3/1

Frontrunning, early stakes winning 2 year old who was`nt beaten far in a couple of G3`s last year and was thought good enough to go for the G1 2yo High Flyer Stakes where he ran respectably in 8th. He has been routing in his 4 starts this season and has always got a lead only to fade away in the final 2 furlongs of his race. Back at this sort of trip (6.5f) he looks much more dangerous but he is alot like Tears Of Autumn in that he has been unable to recapture his best juvenile form and, although clearly a horse with plenty of ability and in a race that should be run to suit, it would be a risk to say this will be the one where he`ll bounce back to form.

4 – 0217112 – Minor Yours – twotwo – R Miavia – 10/1

Consistent colt, by the much improved stallion Brahms out of an equally consistent racemare in West Virginia Tap, who has finished in the money in 5 of his 7 career starts. Gradually improved last year to win an allowance, at the backend of the season, on turf over 7f and then over 6f on his 3 year old debut. He was`nt digraced last time when stepped up to Stakes class for the first time where he tracked the leading trio, drew alongside turning for home, and was marginally touched off on the line by a fast finisher. We`ve yet to see the best from this nice looking chestnut and he has went well at these sort of odds before but, coming off 6 weeks rest, he may just need a run to be fully fit and this is the hardest opposition he has ever tackled.

5 – 9214593 – Conservatory – Elesto – J Ventura – 7/1

Smartly bred son of Forty Niner failed to fulfil the promise shown last season when an impressive winner on his 2 year old debut. Won a weak Stakes over 6.5f on turf at the beginning of this year in New York and has only been running only moderately, albeit in Stakes class, since. He travelled to South Africa last time where he finished 3rd but never looked like winning and he`ll have to have found some improvement if he is to make this a successful European debut.

6 – 3 – Ivory Elk – Mrblaze – L Ranger – 99/1

Rank, Indian bred, outsider makes his debut for Mrblaze`s stable. His only run came early on this year in a 30k claimer on turf over 6f where, after leading early, he faded into 3rd and ran a 50sp. That level of form is way off what is required here and odds of 999/1 would be more reasonable.

7 – 1124261 – Mr Bandito – Oaklawn88 – G Walcott – 5/2

A 4 time juvenile winner on turf (2 Stakes) this horse was always going to be one to follow this season and he has`nt let us down. Placed in the G3 Roasting Weanies, 4th at the Equinics and comfortable Stakes winner last time, he tends to drop into midfield in the early part of his races and come with a storming effort in the final furlong. He drops back to 6.5f here which should`nt be a problem provided there is a fair pace and, after wrongly discounting this horse in a previous article for his last race in Japan, we will be careful not to make the same mistake again.

Summary

A return to sprinting will suit Raising Hell who should have no problem in outspeeding Ivory Elk and getting an easy lead and it would be dangerous to let him get away from the pack. Tears Of Autumn and Minor Yours will both try to track the leader early but both these horses have questions to answer although the latter would have a chance if fit enough. Tete Drakon has some smart pieces of form to his name, is still on the upgrade and is selected ahead of Mr Bandito but there is not much splitting this fast finishing pair.

1 – Tete dragon

2 – Mr Bandito

3 – Raising Hell

[2

post-2272","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
