These sires are not as obscurely bred as the first two sires in the series and they were accomplished on the track. These are the type of sires that unless their real life runners tear up the track in a few years they will likely be relegated to bargain breeding here in the sim.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Singletary is by Sultry Song. His dam sire Star De Naskra and his dam’s dam sire is Key to the Mint. Singletary was a graded winner at three four and five years of age. He was a solid two year old finishing second to Peace Rules in his only stakes run. He was a grade III winner at three and experimented with distance a little. At four he broke out with a win in the 2005 Breeder’s Cup Mile over Artie Schiller and Six Perfections. At five he added two more grade II wins at a mile before ending his career with a non threatening eight place finish in the 2006 Breeder’s Cup Mile.

Singletary has been used twenty times already this year. Simmers have paired him with some nice dam sires and the early results are encouraging. One runner debuted on dirt with an 82 speed figure. Another by a Danehill mare won on debut with a 73 speed figure on turf. Most of his runners have debuted in that 54-64 speed figure area which in the early part of the year is a solid debut. Many of those runners placed in those races.

You hear it said from time to time that Milers make the best sires. Singletary was a miler and his pedigree in every generation is a mix of speed and stamina. His dosage index reflects more stamina at 1.67 and that could make him a very versatile sire. Singletary’s sire Sultry Song is a versatile sire producing both dirt and turf runners. I suspect Singletary will do the very same thing surface wise and being able to produce sprinters and route runners capable of the classic distances.

Somehow Singletary has no Northern Dancer or Mr. Prospector influence in his pedigree. I suspect these will be the two most used sire lines with Singletary. I really like total outcross breeding with Singletary but there are a couple of good sires that will inbreed to Buckpasser or Turn-to both of whom will be in the fifth generation of Singletary’s offspring.

Northern Dancer would be my first choices with many great turf influences like Sadler’s Wells, Nijinsky II, Nureyev, Storm Cat, Danehill, <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Danzig, Theatrical, El Prado and so on. There are many dirt influences in there that should blend well. Just about anything Mr. Prospector would mix well as well. Seeking the Gold, Woodman, Gone West, Forty Niner, Carson City, Fappiano, Miswaki, Machiavellian. I suspect his runners are best at three and four depending on how often they are run but they will be good at two as well. He will be a versatile sire producing both turf and dirt runners as well as sprinters and routers.

Freefourinternet is by Tabasco Cat. His dam sire is Dixieland Band and his dam’s dam sire is Mr. Prospector. Freefourinternet was a stakes winner at three, four, five and six. At three and four he was winning non graded turf stakes in England. At five he headed to the states winning three grade II turf stakes with a nice sixth place run in the 2003 Breeder’s Cup Mile finishing about three lengths behind the winner. Freefourinternet went on to win the grade II Hawthorne Gold Cup on dirt at a mile and a quarter.

Freefourinternet has been used sixteen times already in the sim. His offspring have mostly run on the dirt to this point. He has had two debut winners one with a very solid 74 speed figure. Most of his runners are debuting in the 54-62 speed figure range which for this time of year is solid. He has been paired with a couple of nice dam sires like Dynaformer, Carson City, Storm Bird and Machiavellian.

Freefourinternet is inbred to Northern Dancer already and has Mr. Prospector on the bottom side of the pedigree. That can make a tough pedigree to breed to with out adding a whole lot more inbreeding. I think in the sim he will throw many more dirt runners than turf runners. His pedigree has a lot of dirt influence to begin with even though he ran well on turf.

Inbreeding to both Mr. Prospector and Northern Dancer will likely be something that happens quite a bit. Mr. Prospector will be in the fourth generation of Freefourinternet’s offspring. So grandsons of Mr. Prospector in the dam sire spot will create a 4×4 inbreeding. Northern Dancer will be present in both the fourth and fifth generation of Freefourinternet so adding more Northern Dancer in either the fourth or fifth generation is not a bad thing.

Turn-To line sires would seem a good choice in the dam sire slot. Red Ransom, Lear Fan, Kris S., Sunday Silence, Saint Ballado. Damascus, Seattle Slew, Ribot, Nasrullah and In Reality would also make good choices.

Freefourinternet (5984) X Unbridled (6852) X Damascus (1457)

Freefourinternet (5984) X Saint Ballado (5545) X Affirmed (83)

Freefourinternet (5984) X Riverman (5349) X High Top (GB) (2787)

Freefourinternet has the type of pedigree to produce early bloomers. He himself was a bit of a late bloomer. I would try my Freefourinternet runners on both surfaces but I think his runners will do better on dirt. He could very well produce good sprinters with an abundance of speed in his pedigree but he was successful at longer distances as well as a mile.

Part two is in the books and next week we start to dig into some of the bigger names amongst the first year sires.
