Only four three year old fillies will be going to the post and one of them is a complete toss, so even if you are more clueless about horse racing than Steve Nash trying to play defense, you have a Baseball Hall of Fame .333 chance of hitting a home run. Kobe is about to continue pouring 50 points down on the Suns, so let’s take a look.

Sahm Geri breaks out of post one and has no chance in this race. A 76/1 computer bred who is 1/11 and that win came in a $10K maiden claimer. This Geri filly ran a career high 66 SF in that race. She hasn’t come within 7 pts of that since and carries a $2K claiming tag. About the only good thing I can say about her is that she’s run at this track before. Has no business being in this race, but it’s not her fault someone has to fill the field. The bigger question is why didn’t someone else take a shot here? Come on horsemen, run your fillies and give them a chance. Black type status is here for the taking.

Now that we’ve tossed Sahm Geri, the Hoosier Run Memorial is a three filly race. On paper Certain Quality looks like a very strong favorite. A daughter of Certain Storm, she has $187,135 in earnings and is the #27th ranked dirt sprinter in her class. Certain Quality is a three-time stakes winner, taking two 6-furlong sprints earlier this year. She has run a 90+ SF 3 times in her career, no other horse here has broken 90 yet. She will settle back and make her move in the stretch with top jockey K Hellestrae in the irons. She has made 15 starts, which is a lot for a 3 year old at this point in the year, so you wonder if she may be hitting a wall. However, she was bred to win early and she’s accomplished that nicely. She also ships from KY; although she previously shipped from Japan to Argentina and proceeded to win a Stakes race so I don’t think that will be a factor.

Setting the pace in this race will be Wtas Quiet Thief. She is a Cat Thief filly that has four wins in eight starts. She’ll be trying to go gate to wire and with the lack of speed in this race to keep her honest she just might do that. She won a 7-furlong stakes race as a two year old. She’s coming off a 4th place finish in the La Hokel Handicap, but since she couldn’t get the lead I think we can toss that race. She doesn’t have great SFs, her best is an 84 in an allowance win, but she’ll have an uncontested lead and it will be up to the others to catch her. This will be her first race overseas being based in North America previously.

Moving Tables is the final entry in the field and it was an astute move by trainer Teejay. This beautiful black/dark brown Aptitude filly is virtually assured placing 3rd here and getting black type status. If she puts it together she could surprise though she’ll need to run by far her career effort to beat the above two. Moving Tables is only 1 for 10, but has run in the money in 60% of her races. She ran her career SF high of 80 last time out in Allowance Company taking 2nd. With Aptitude and Danzig in her pedigree I’d like to see how she takes to the turf, especially since her dirt times have been steady but not spectacular.
Wtas Quiet Thief is going to move out to a large lead with Moving Tables and Certain Storm saving ground. Certain Storm will try to reel her in during the stretch with Moving Tables going with her. Should be a great rush to the wire with Wtas Quiet Thief trying to hold on. I’m betting an exacta box 2-3.

Excellent, just in time for the 2nd half, the NBA playoffs, they’re faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic!

[2

post-2222","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
