These sires performed well on the track but will probably get over looked by the average simster. They will probably not be used much by sim players but for those looking for something different they can produce offspring that are quite fun and productive.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

For whatever reasons the freshman sire year of a sim stallion could be that stallions best chance at producing a stakes winner. When talking about these obscure stallions that may not be all that successful in real life I think putting them with quality dam sires now increases the chances of getting a stakes winner although as with using any cheaper sires there is risk involved.

Western Pride is by Way West (FR). His dam sire is Proud Birdie and his dam’s dam sire is Ack Ack. The breeding is a bit obscure but the results were wonderful. He has ten wins and over 1.2 million in earnings on the track. His class of three year olds in retrospect might have been one of the best classes in many years. He really did not blossom until he was three.

As a three year old Western Pride would race twelve times and win seven. He won three of the lesser Derbies Ohio, Calder, and West Virginia while top three year old that year Point Given won just about everything else. In the Ohio Derby Western Pride beat Macho Uno, then beat Tour of the Cat in the Calder Derby and set a new track record while winning the West Virginia Derby. Western Pride would go on to win the G2 San Fernando and run second to Milwaukee Brew in the G1 Santa Anita Handicap as a four year old. Then at five he won the G3 San Bernardino and ran second to Mineshaft in the G1 Pimlico Special.

His dosage index is 2.27 and he excelled in route races. He did posses a good amount of speed on the track. Breeding wise I would imagine a popular thing will be to inbreed to Mr. Prospector 4X4. The pedigree also sets up well for breeding to Northern Dancer line mares and that should be popular in real life as well. Seattle Slew, Buckpasser, Ribot, In Reality, and <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Damascus all would make good lines to use with Western Pride.

Western Pride (15997) X Cryptoclearance (1415) X The Minstrel (6552)

Western Pride (15997) X Deputy Minister (1600) X Pleasant Colony (4824)

Western Pride (15997) X Septieme Ciel (5711) X Cutlass (1430)

A Bargain…

Western Pride (15997) X Far North (2079) X Desert Wine (1622)

I would expect Western Pride’s runners will likely be best at age three and four. He really did not start to develop until later in the year as a two year old. If they are raced sparingly, in sim terms, they could last and last as productive runners. Western Pride himself ran thirty-two times. I suspect his runners will excel on the dirt but he might throw the odd turf runner or two. I also would suspect he produces better route horses than sprinters over the long haul.

Mr. Light (ARG) is by Numerous. His dam sire is Forlitano (ARG) and his dam’s dam sire is Pepenador. Numerous is by Mr. Prospector out of a Nijinksky II mare. The dam side of the pedigree is obscure by most people’s standards although the line is a strong one in Argentina. Mr. Light (ARG) started his career in Argentina but really did not gain recognition until he got to the states as a five year old.

Mr. Light (ARG) showed talent in Argentina running second in a stakes in just his second career start. He was hardly races at three and four. I suspect that was the time he was going from Argentina to the US and getting adjusted to the hemisphere changes. When he did start to run he was pretty solid at five winning a couple of allowances. He really took a step forward at six setting a new world record for one mile on turf in an allowance and following that up with two G3 stakes wins. He had all the appearances of a top notch miler but was never tested in G1 company. None the less he was super fast.

Mr. Light’s (ARG) dosage index is 2.25 but he showed more speed than stamina on the race track. Mr. Prospector will appear in the third generation of Mr. Light’s pedigree and Northern Dancer will appear in the fifth generation. That means you will not see much balanced inbreeding but probably a lot of 3X4 and 4×5. That should fit well here and I think breeding back to the Northern Dancer line makes more since if you are wanting a turf runner.

Using grandson’s of Northern Dancer is more ideal but son’s will work as well. I would also look to the Roberto line sires as good stamina and turf influence with Mr. Light. Nasrullah line sires should also blend well. Riverman, Mill Reef, and sires through Blushing Groom (FR) all seem very good choices. Ribot and Damascus line sires also can give good turf influence as well. Bold Ruler is an interesting line to add. Although not really known as well as a turf influence Bold Ruler line sires do produce well on the turf.

Mr. Light (ARG) (16004) X Danehill (1494) X Diesis (GB) (1665)

Mr. Light (ARG) (16004) X Rahy (5097) X Danzig (1505)

Mr. Light (ARG) (16004) X Kris S. I think his runners could excel at two and three but on the other hand they may take a little time to develop. Numerous produces sturdy runners that race a lot and I think Mr. Light can do the same thing. His runners will likely prefer the turf although in the sim you never know. They will likely be good in sprints and up to about nine furlongs.

I hope you enjoyed the first part of the freshman sires series.
