It has been a couple of months since I have updated my progress in Roxyken\u2019s 1000 breeding point challenge. I have taken a different angle choosing to breed cheap horses to earn my way to a thousand breeding points. I started the stable off with five one dollar auction buys and they were not very good. I managed to earn 71 points with those five runners. I have filled the stable out now with 30 point breedings. My strategy has been to take advantage of state bred or local bred restricted races. I have chosen to breed in areas where there seems to be less competition. Lets see how that is paying off.<\/p>\n
Prospector\u00a0 Day ( Day of the Cat x Prospectors Bid x Singh) 6-0-0-1\u00a0 27 points earned.<\/p>\n
A three year old Texas bred colt was the first runner I bred for this stable. I have only managed to get him into one state bred race. Texas state bred races can be a little tough so he has faced open company for most of the time. He has only managed one third place finish from six starts. He has tried both dirt and turf and has two fourth place finishes and a third on turf. That has earned him 27 points. His top speed figure is a 63 in his third place finish in a turf sprint. I will continue to look at low maiden claiming races for him giving him a couple more races before potentially sending him to an early retirement.<\/p>\n

Sankara Mist (Major Impact x Northern Passage x Sing) 5-2-2-0\u00a0 157 points earned<\/p>\n
This India bred is my highest earner and has a solid record despite her top speed figure being a 59. She has won on both turf and dirt. India bred runners enjoy several tracks that have eligible races and there is not a lot of competition. She has run in one open claiming race finishing second and has not faced a field of more than 4 runners. I am placing her well and she is rewarding the stable.<\/p>\n

Wichita Nights (Liginsky x Raphane x Celestial Storm) 4-1-1-1\u00a0 110 points earned<\/p>\n
This Kansas bred filly has earned points in all four of her races. I have kept her on the turf in each start and taken advantage of the races available to state breds in this region. I have been able to place her in small fields only having one race with more than 4 starters and that was 5 starters. Her top speed figure is a 58 thus far. She has contributed well and as long as I can find these type races will keep earning for the stable.<\/p>\n

Rock Quest ( High Cascade x Beau Quest x Keen) 3-0-1-0\u00a0\u00a0 50 points earned<\/p>\n
This Arkansas bred runner with only one third place finish is already showing a profit. I have tried her on both the turf and dirt with her best speed figure coming on the turf. She finished fourth against the boys earning a 62 speed figure but gets no breeding points because she did not hit the board. When she breaks her maiden she will earn another 40 points and if I can continue to place her well she also will be a good earner for the stable.<\/p>\n

Brasheer (Arion x Surako x Yeats) 4-0-0-0\u00a0\u00a0 30 points earned.<\/p>\n
This German bred colt has earned in three of his four career races with two fourth place finishes and fifth in his debut. The German bred races are a bit tougher than other regions but I liked Arion as a sire. He has earned in the three German bred restricted races he has run in and I think I can earn more as the year goes on. His best speed figure has been a 59 on the turf.<\/p>\n

Deceptive Measure (Bosporus x Bassenthwaite x Plain Dealing) 4-1-1-0\u00a0 100 points earned<\/p>\n
This Turkey bred filly has done well earning on the turf with her win and place but her best speed figure was on the dirt where she earned a 64. Turkey is another region\u00a0 where you can find several tracks and there is limited competition. This can pick up though because some very solid sires stand in Turkey. She has never run against more than four other runners so as long as I can keep placing her well she should continue to earn.<\/p>\n

Tower Shiek ( Phoenix Tower x Arabian Sheik x Forever Sparkle) 2-1-0-0\u00a0 50 points earned<\/p>\n
This is another India bred runner for the stable. This colt won on debut in a turf sprint. I stretched him out against open 15K claimers in his last and he flopped. I am hoping I can find regional races for him moving forward so I can put him in places to earn. He is already profitable for the stable.<\/p>\n

India Peak ( Serious Spender x Tabkir x Santiago Peak) 2-0-0-1\u00a0\u00a0 40 points earned<\/p>\n
I went back to India and got another filly. She ran third in her debut and fourth in her second start. She earned a 60 speed figure in her last start and I have placed her well this week as she is a 6\/5 favorite in a maiden allowance facing only one player owned runner. I am hoping she will double her points earned and become another solid earner for the stable.<\/p>\n

Dream Net (Dream Run x Anet x Hooched) 2-0-1-0\u00a0\u00a0 47 points earned<\/p>\n
I went to Utah to breed to Dream Run for this breeding. Using Anet as a dam sire here I was hoping to get a solid sprinter on both surfaces for this region. So far so good as she is profitable already. She earned a 61 speed figure in her debut on dirt and she has yet to try the turf. I am hoping she may show more on the turf.<\/p>\n

Turible ( Tiz a Trip x Walesa x Chumming ) 3-1-0-1\u00a0\u00a0 70 points earned<\/p>\n
I went to Minnesota for this filly. This region can produce very competitive races but so far she has earned well. Her last out was a region restricted race and she was last of six not earning any points. I am hoping races come up for her at the claiming level where she can continue to earn. All three of her starts have been on turf her top speed figure has been a 58.<\/p>\n

The stable has earned 752 points to this date. Now I have spent 300 points on filling the stable with ten thirty point breedings. Keeping this up I should eclipse the thousand earned points close to July fourth and I would imagine by Labor Day I would have a thousand points in profit. I am not sure I realized these cheap bred horses that rarely reach speeds of sixty have such earning power. This stable is pretty fun to run even though all of these runners would be horrible in open company at any level. A little looking around the regions and patiently placing my runners is paying off. I could probably run them every other week to earn more points but so far I have run the stable pretty close to how I normally run a stable.
