Arkansas may be a long way from Spain but the horse with the poor spelling, ARKANSAW DIAMOND looked like she was enjoying home cooking back home as she ran a comfortable race and led most of the way. It is her good fortune that the race wasn’t a few feet longer as she barely hung on at the wire but her nose was just long enough.

The four year old Seeking the Gold filly out of Ozark Dancer won her tenth race in only 29 tries and is nearing half a million dollars in earnings. Trainer Simon had his filly and jockey Prieto set up to run a nearly perfect race for this talented filly. She certainly didn’t expend any more effort than needed as she sat just off the leader until the half then took control until the final steps. She had a nice 102 SPF for the race which is her third triple digit speed of the year.

The race started with a six-across break with all them racing side by side into the first turn. TEQUILA SHOOTER had the lead by a hair over the other five horses. She eventually finished fourth in the race. The winner took the lead at the half and moved out comfortably in front. RED TEJAS was languishing back in 10th place at that time but put it in another gear that the rest of the field doesn’t have. She passed horses right and left and moved through traffic and set her sights on the leader but just ran out of room and was nipped at the wire. GRAMONA moved up to finish third.

ARKANSAW DIAMOND has had a really nice start to her four year old campaign with three wins and a second in five races. Trainer Simond has to be excited envisioning what this year can bring with his prized filly.
