With all the attention over in Dubai this weekend, The Dynarag Handicap has only attracted five fillies and mares to compete for the $75 000 on offer. Topping the boards at 1\/5 is the eight year old mare, Headache Machine<\/STRONG>. She has already won at stakes level five time and also once at group 2 level, but there is an unusual factor to note here which the bookies seem to have overlooked. Headache Machine’s winning return to the track last time out was her first run in more than three years! While it was a great return, winning going away in allowance company for trainer prppanther<\/EM>, it’s a bit hopeful to think that, as an eight year old,\u00a0she will return to the heady days when she was recording 113 speed figures. A figure close to the 90 she scored last time is probably more realistic.<\/DIV>

The second favourite is Highroadtonothing(IRE)<\/STRONG> at 5\/1, racing for bagpuss<\/EM>. This filly has won twice in her last four starts, over six and 10 furlongs, so we can safely say that this 7.5 furlongs trip won’t be a problem. She has the class to win with five stakes victories and thirds in two group 3’s and a group 2 already on record. Her recent speed figures are a little erratic but, on her day, a score in the high 90’s seems likely. <\/DIV>

At 8\/1 we have Hunter’s Event<\/STRONG>, trained by hunter22<\/EM>, and Miswaki Abbroval<\/STRONG> from the knightowl<\/EM> yard. The former, as a six year old,\u00a0hasn’t been in the best form of late with low 90’s being about the best she can do now though even that seems unlikely. At her peak she recorded six stakes victories, but she looks unlikely to add to that tally. Miswaki Abbroval, a lightly raced five year old mare, is a dual stakes winner. She consistently scores in the mid 80 to low 90 range and, with the top jockey aboard, should run towards the top of that range again.<\/DIV>
\u00a0<\/DIV>
The longshot of the field at 13\/1 is Big Event Hunter<\/STRONG>, also from the stable of hunter22<\/EM>. She is a stakes winning four year old, though her recent runs have been at allowance level where she has consistently finished thereabouts, without managing to win. A win here seems unlikely, though she will be ably assisted from the saddle and her mid 80’s recent speed figures\u00a0could be\u00a0enough for her to have say\u00a0at the finish.<\/DIV>

In all, this race is far more open than the betting suggests. At the restrictive odds, there’s no value to be had about Headache Machine, so I’m going to suggest a closely fought affair between Highroadtonothing and Miswaki Abbroval, with the favourite to take third.<\/DIV><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
