Twelve fillies and mares have drawn into the race, with a purse of $75,000. The weather forcast looks good for Argentina this weekend, and the track is expected to be listed as fast on race day.
The horse on the inside will be the four year old filly Wicked Temper (Septieme Ciel x Storm Bird x In Reality) owned and trained by tbrag . This is an impressively built brown filly who has been doing well lately in her starts. She is returning to stakes races this week after a step back into the allowance level. Her last start was a seven and a half furlong allowance race in Nebraska in which she finished fifth. Her last run in stakes level was in the Grade II Scary Carrie The Blueberry, where she ran a fairly impressive speed figure and finished third. tbrag feels confident that the filly, though not running at her best recently, has what it takes to do well in The West Below The Top Special.
In the second post posion is Gumbi T (Bahri x Gone West x Distinctive) trained and owned by ted . This four year old filly has had a total of thirty-two starts during her career. This chestnut filly started out brilliantly as a two year old, then gradually fading somewhat as a three year old. She still, however, is consistenly in the money. Her last start was an allowance race here in Argentina where she finished a heartbreaking sixth. She had to previous allowance wins before that race. Her last stakes calibere race was a seven and a half furlong race, The Virginia Charge Memorial in Rhode Island where she finished a well beaten tenth. C. Hayes will be riding in Saturday’s race.
In the next post over is Tosca (Thunder Gulch x Woodman x Alydar) and out of the dam Sport Welt, and is trained by roelke . This three year old filly is going off as one of the fields longshots on Saturday’s race. With only six total career starts and two wins, she is one of the most inexperienced fillies in the field. Her last race, a five and a half furlong here in Argentina was her first win since her maiden. In this allowance race she also recorded her best speed figure to date, a 93. Her last stakes race was the Grade III Great Fiddle Sticks Handicap where she finished ninth with a speed figure of 77. Though probably not a serious competitior in this race, she is sure to be a filly to watch in the future once she has more race experience.
In the four slot is Communionn (Ferdinand x Gulch x Black Tie Affair (IRE)) out of the dam Black Gulch and is owned by teamgreg .This chestnut filly is certainly one of the horses to watch in Saturday’s race. In her last eleven starts she has never finished out of the money, her worst finish being that of fifth in the Grade II Sister Dumb Stakes. Her last start was in The Summer Stock Speical where she came in second, by a head. Her last win was in the six furlong Ka Excessive Stakes. She recorded a 104 speed figure in that race.
In the following post is Degas’s Dancer (Broad Brush x Northern Dancer x Mr. Prospector) trained by hornedfrog . This three year old brown filly has been very impressive thoughout her career. The worst she has ever finished was sixth in a nine furlong allowance race in Arkansas. Her last start was in the six and a half furlong Mama Pleasant Stakes in Florida where she finsihed third recording a speed figure of 97. The jockey riding in this weekends race will be D. Kowalkowski.
Breaking in the middle post will be Long Launch (Totem And Taboo x Carson City x Blood Royal) owned and trained by bombsaway . This chestnut mare is one of the older horeses entered in The West Below The Top Special at five years of age. This mare’s last start was in a seven and a half furlong race, The Berzerk Virgin Challenge, where she stayed near the lead almost the entire race, then faded, finishing seventh. Her last win was an allowance race in Rhode Island, were she recorded a personal high speed figure of 105. In an interview earlier this week bombsaway said, “I tried her at seven and a half furlongs, to try to stretch her out a little, it just wasn’t working, were probably going to stick to races around six furlongs now.”
In the seven spot is Calculus Guru (Doneraile Court x Dixieland Band x Seeking The Gold) owned and trained by jerry78133 . This brown three year old filly has only had two career starts, however both of those starts have resulted in wins. Her maiden race was on good dirt and she recorded a speed figure of 89. Her next, and most recent start, was in the six and a half furlong Mama Pleasant Stakes in Florida, were she speed figure skyrocketed to 102. Though relatively inexperienced she has a perfect race record and could be a filly to watch on Saturday.
Next will be Chance Meeting ( General Meeting x Woodman x Satan’s Ace) and out of the dam Happy Hoe is trained by tbgifted2 . This filly is on a three race winning steak, wining The Thier Deer Cap, Grade II Scary Carrie The Blueberry and The Your Dogs Memorial back to back. She has not finished out of the money in her last nine starts. Jockey in Saturday’s race will be J. Ledwith. Chance Meeting will be going off at odds of 6:1.
In the nine slot is Capote Kid (Lemon Drop Kid x Capote x Ela-Mana-Mou (IRE)) out of the dam Pot Scatter, and is trained and owned by boisespiro . This is another one of our longshots for this race. This three year old filly has actually been run in claiming race recently were she recorded a dissapointing 64 speed figure, but managed to finish third. The fillies last race was in Florida, an allowance race on the good dirt where she recorded a career best speed figure of 94. Though she is probably not capable of handling this field, she would be a very well accomplished allowance horse, and possibly, with time a decent stakes horse.
In the tenth post position will be Paging Dr. Profit (Langfuhr x Broad Brush x Dr. Fager) trained by theprofit6 . This gorgeous, well-build filly had her last start in Florida in the six furlong Scary Carrie The Blueberry, a Grade II race where she recorded a lifetime pest speed figure, 104, and finshed second. She has not finished out of the money in her last five races. Her last win came during an allowance rance in Maryland. Jockey for Paging Dr. Profit will be L. Sprowl.
In the eleven hole is Hallfly’s Gulch (Graeme Hall x Gulch x Be My Guest) out of the dam Oak Brunette and owned by magfly .This four year old fillies last start was in the the Grade II Scary Carrie The Blueberry Stakes where she finished a dissapointing ninth, seven and one half lengths back from the winner. Her last victory was in The Berzerk A.P. Stakes in Kentucky where she recorded a 105 speed figure and one by a head. Though plauged by some bad luck lately she has won ten times in her twenty-six start career, which is almost half her races. Look for this filly to possibly finish in the money.
Breaking from the far outside post position will be Rapid Robot (AUS) (Flying Spur (AUS) x Alwuhush x Drone) out of the dam Drunken Ash, and trained and owned by lovetoplay . This brown five year old’s last start was in the seven furlong Irgun Defense Special were she finished fifth after leading for the majority of the race. Her last win was in an allowance rance in Colorodo. Her career best speed figure is a 97, well below the average of the rest of the field. A few more allowance starts could probably benefit this filly.

[2

post-195","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
