Today’s weekly race on the undercard of the G1 Crock Of Gold is The Secret North Special. This event will be run at 14 furlongs on the dirt course for a purse of $65,000. Six horses 4yo and older have turned out for this marathon. Let’s take a look at the runners.

In post one at 5/1 is Mog’s Wood owned by morgan7930. He is a 4yo by Tale Of The Cat out of the stakeswinning Woodman mare Maria Ham. He is lightly raced, with only eleven starts to his career, but has found his niche. His last three races were long distance stakes, and he won one at 12f and placed second in the other two, both at 13f. A. Reed(14%) will be riding.

In post two at 4/1 is Wonderboy Dot NL owned by loisblack. He is a 4yo by Van Nistelrooy and is out of a Sadler’s Wells mare. He is coming off a stakes victory here in Ireland in his last start. Ebert rode him in his last two races, but after his last performance the jockeys here have all been clamoring to get the next ride on him, so he gets the better services of Mizzi Russell(13%) for this one.

In post three at 5/2 is Royfly’s Dubai owned by dowfly. He is a 4yo by Dubai Destination and is out of the stakeswinning Seattle Slew mare Granny Z. He is a stakeswinner at 10.5f but has only run beyond 12f once, and that one didn’t turn out so well, although he was likely the victim of a hot pace in that one. P. Jetter(8%) isn’t the best choice, but this colt has enough talent to overcome that.

In post four at 2/1 is Lemieux Again owned by Ireland resident mrfu. He is a 6yo by Storm Cat and is based on the gradedwinning Forty Niner horse Forty Egg. He is coming off a second-place finish here in the 12f G2 Carden Special last time out, where he was gaining ground on the leader, giving his owner hopes that he can handle a couple more furlongs. Mizzi Russell was up for that one, this time he gets top jockey Z. Kentucky(18%), although there is some concern that Russell fit his running style better.

In post five at 7/2 is Lickity Split owned by ojcbets. He is a 5yo by Woodman out of a Pleasant Colony mare. He’s been a late bloomer, running through the claiming and then starter ranks through his 3yo and first half of his 4yo seasons. He won 10 races last year, and half of them were high-dollar allowances. He’s one to keep an eye on, as he is almost certain to become a stakeswinner this year. Robbins(13%) is his jockey.

Rounding out the field at 5/1 is Elysian owned by isolde. He is a 4yo by Sadler’s Wells based on the stakeswinning Kingmambo horse Transcedental. He has won stakes on both surfaces, and is coming off a stakes victory at 13f on dirt in his last start. He tends to want to run from the front, but the smart and lovely E C Doyle(10%) can adjust to any scenario that should unfold once the gates are opened.

That is our field. It should be another exciting one, as each horse in here is a proven long router, even though a couple may not have been a full 14f before. We really don’t have a longshot in this one, so none can be counted out. Good luck to all the runners and may they all come home sound.

[2

post-1903","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
