Today’s race will be a mile and a half on the dirt course for fillies and mares 4yo and up. The purse is $75,000. We have nine entrants this week, several of whom have met before, so it should be an exciting matchup.

In post one at 5/1 is Coominya Strides(Ire). She is a 5yo by Rock Of Gibraltar(Ire) out of a Nureyev mare and is owned by wedafoxhat. She recently scored her first stakes victory, running a 92 over 11 furlongs. She has also placed in two other stakes races. One of those was over 14 furlongs, so today’s distance is certainly within her capabilities. The lovely E C Doyle is in the saddle, and is the perfect jock for her come from behind running style.

In post two at 2/1 is Daylight Dreamer(Ire). She is a 6yo by Giant’s Causeway out of an Alydar mare and is owned by the beautiful tisjuliet. This mare is ranked #21 in the long dirt division, and is coming off a third-place finish in the G2 Disco Inferno Stakes in Sweden. She has six stakes wins to her credit and is graded-placed twice. She’ll be gunning for the lead and daring the field to catch her, and has Ireland’s top man Z. Kentucky on board.

In post three at 9/1 is Deviance. She is a 5yo by Runaway Groom out of a Cozzene mare and is owned by Ireland’s head cheerleader mariana6. She has placed in two stakes races, both at today’s distance. She is lightly raced, having made only 20 starts, but will need some help from the cheerleading section today, with N. Holohan sitting on her like a rock. This does seem to be her preferred distance, though, and she’s coming off a longer race, so she may surprise.

In post four at 11/1 is Cyrrius Discover(Ire). She is a 4yo by Giant’s Causeway(Ire) out of the graded-winning Theatrical(Ire) mare Fleet Discover(Ire), and is owned by Ireland resident heronfarms. She has only run 12 times in her young career, and is making her stakes debut today. She tried today’s distance last time out for the first time and won an allowance quite easily, running a 91. D. Nickesy is in the irons and will show us all what this filly can do.

In post five at 9/1 is Lover The Bruises. She is a 6yo by Lost Opportunity out of a Diesis(GB) mare, and is owned by babybarns. She is the only stakeswinner by Lost Opportunity in the sim, and not only that, she is also a G1 winner, having won the 2 mile Consolation Cup in 2004. She has won a total of five stakes in her career, including one on turf. She is coming off a 2 mile allowance in her first race of the year, and is primed and ready for this one. Gutsy M. Russell will make them pay if anyone underestimates this mare.

In post six at 11/1 is Tete Waltz(Ire). She is a 4yo by Kalanisi(Ire) out of a Sadler’s Wells mare and is owned by kartago. She is best at 11 to 12 furlongs, although she did place third in a 2 mile stakes last time out. She has run a top speed of 94 at this distance, and will need to at least duplicate that here to stick with these. She runs best on or at least within a length of the lead, and may have trouble getting the lead this time. S. Collins is thrilled to have the mount on a Tete, though, and will give it his best shot.

In post seven at 14/1 is Dragonwing. She is a 4yo by Elusive Quality out of a Tale Of The Cat mare and is owned by brad. She is stakesplaced, and is coming off a 2 mile stakes race. She has shown flashes of ability, but has also been somewhat inconsistent. N. Bruce is a good jockey, and if he can get her to settle in and find a comfortable pace, she has an outside shot to hit the board here.

In post eight at 5/1 is Winged Victory. She is the old lady of the race at 7yo, and is by Deputy Minister out of a Seeking The Gold mare. She’s SOOO old, her second race was a MSW(H). (That’s a MSW restricted to homebreds for you newbies out there). She won her first stakes race a couple of starts ago, running a 96 over 14 furlongs. She’s just trying to get a few stakes placings on her resume before she visits the breeding shed later this year. A. Reed will do his best to help her out today.

Rounding out the field at 5/1 is N. Portman. She is a 6yo by Sadler’s Wells out of an Irish River(FR) mare and is owned by nijinsky4. She is ranked #19 in the long dirt division. She has won six stakes in her career, and is G1 placed, as well as having placed in two G2 races. She ran a top speed of 113 at today’s distance as a 3yo. She won four of her stakes last year, though, and won them easily, so there may still be some really good races left in this mare. C. Feller may not be the best guy to bring them out of her, but she really can’t be counted out.

That is our field. We have a couple of top mares here, but their challengers look pretty tough as well. Daylight Dreamer(Ire) looks like the one to beat, though, and if she can get loose on the lead like she did in her last race, I doubt any of these will be able to catch up to her. Good luck to all the runners, and may they all come home sound.

[2

post-1706","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
