High Brite did his running in the late 80’s and raced pretty frequently. His pedigree is pretty interesting and a bit old school as well. His production has been pretty solid and even here in the sim he is doing all right for a sire that does not get used very much each year.

Real Life- High Brite is by Best Turn. His dam sire is <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Forli and his dam’s dam sire is Princequillo. As you can probably tell he has s good deal of stamina in his pedigree and his dosage index reflects that being 1.84. On the race track High Brite won stakes from six furlongs to a mile and an eighth. He ended up sprinting mostly and racked up several wins. He raced eighteen times as a three year old and another eighteen times as a four year old winning four graded stakes, twelve stakes overall.

His progeny have also tended to sprint. His best real life runner was High Stakes Player who a solid graded race winning sprinter that won fourteen times lifetime. Super High is another multiple stakes winning offspring from High Brite. Inbreeding to Nasrullah is present in every one of his top five lifetime runners. His real life runners are best on dirt with only a few that take to the turf.

Sim Life – High Brite has forty-six active sim runners. He has two stakes winners one a three year old filly. Both stakes winners have done it on dirt. There are not a whole lot of real fast High Brite runners. It is interesting he has not been inbred to Nasrullah very much at all in the sim. His runners have faster speed figures sprinting but they run farily well up about ten furlongs. A few of his runners do like the turf although I think he is clearly a dirt sire.

Look through some of High Brite’s retired runners and you will see he has produced some pretty nice runners. He has four retired runners with over two hundred thousand in lifetime earnings. The dam sires used were Alysheba, Mr. Prospector, Bellypha (IRE), and Cool Halo.

Breeding Suggestions – I think you have to think of inbreeding to Nasrullah. That plays a large role in his real life runners and many of his sim runners are not bred that way. Still they are doing well enough using Mr. Prospector line and Northern Dancer line dam sires. I think the best way to inbreed to Nasrullah is probably through the dam’s dam sire.

Blushing Groom (FR), Full Out, Mill Reef, Naskra, Riverman, Secretariat, Torison and What a Pleasure are all good Nasrullah line dam sires.

Speed wise I always like to look to a couple of dam sires. The In Reality line is a good source of speed and Relaunch is a very good dam sire. Bertrando is another California sire also from the In Reality line and would probably be used with High Brite in real life. The other sprint or speed dam sire I like is Phone Trick. He was an excellent sire of sprinters and a good dam sire.

Anything you can think of Mr. Prospector or Northern Dancer or Seattle Slew will blend well with High Brite. Breeding a little stamina back to High Brite would not hurt. He has stamina but if you are looking for a runner better suited for routes it would be wise to add some stamina.

High Brite (2777) X Relaunch (5255) X Blushing Groom (FR) (669)

High Brite (2777) X Phone Trick (4781) X Naskra (4245)

High Brite (2777) X Mt. Livermore (4165) X Lyphard (3691)

Bargain Bred – High Brite is a relatively cheap sire at the end of the week so is a good choice to use as a bargain sire.

High Brite (2777) X Obligato (4509) X Torison (6688)

What to Expect – High Brite gets good results from two year old runners in real life and his two year olds in the sim seem to do well. I would expect most of his runners to like the dirt and probably end up better sprinters than route horses. In real life he produces many horses that stay at the track for many years putting up sim type race numbers of over forty or fifty races. You see that in some of his sim runners as well so expect a runner that if good enough to be competitive will be able to stay around and be productive for several years.

As always if you have any questions, comments, or sire requests please drop me a line at mcbwildcat@aol.com.
