<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/DIV>
The third race on Italy’s card brings together 2,000 Guineas<\/EM> trail sophomore colts.\u00a0 Over a flat Monster Mile, 20 horses\u00a0carry their residency colors over a yielding course for the\u00a0Grade 1 $1,000,000 Mick Dittman<\/A><\/EM>.\u00a0 <\/FONT><\/DIV>
<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/DIV>
Born in 1952, Mick Dittman <\/STRONG>was a 3-time champion Australian jockey.\u00a0\u00a0 He won a whopping 88 Group 1 races and rode over 1,700 winners.\u00a0 He won the Melbourne Cup once and two Cox Plates, one of which was aboard Strawberry Road (4th in 1984 Breeder’s Cup Turf).\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT><\/DIV>
<\/FONT><\/FONT>\u00a0<\/DIV>

The Trempolino colt\u00a0brings his A-game.\u00a0 If he can overcome traffic woes on the rail, a ground-saving trip could see him in the winner’s circle.\u00a0 And\u00a0Always Improving is on a mission too since finishing poorly following his BB triumph last year.\u00a0 He did close out the season with a fine listed win though.\u00a0 Jockey N. Smarty’s Chant looks a wee bit green out there though, sensing that he’s among the big boys.\u00a0\u00a0 Tall order for the little guy who just pocketed his ALW NW1x over a grassy mile.\u00a0 It was the colt’s two-turns debut, so no matter.\u00a0\u00a0 He’s got War Chant on his momma’s side, so look for this colt to rally for some money from midpack.\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT><\/DIV>

Change o’ Luck(AUS) seems quite the player too.\u00a0 The dark bay son of Lucky Owners(AUS) was a champion last year at his residency, winning\u00a03 freshman turf\u00a0allowances restricted to his circuit.\u00a0\u00a0 Just look at him prancing away — the colt’s forgotten all about his two dismal\u00a0graded drubbings last season.\u00a0\u00a0 No matter though — sabalou has\u00a0Change o’ Luck\u00a0on the muscle<\/EM>, ready for another closing shot at the big time.<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/DIV>

As Chilcoat makes her way to Pastures’ owners box, Cronus(IRE) looks full of spirit out on the course.\u00a0 The Giant’s Causeway(IRE) son finished 8th in\u00a0the BB Juvy Turf<\/EM> —\u00a0he did win a stakes last year though and\u00a0closed evenly last time out in a Texas overnighter.\u00a0 Though a mild outsider here, he has a shot.\u00a0 I can’t help but wonder though how he’d do\u00a0shortening up again in turf sprints.\u00a0\u00a0Still, Cronus’ golden brown coat shines in the Italy afternoon sun…. hope he enjoys the soggy course though.<\/FONT><\/DIV>

Nitrocavy’s The Hot Drink<\/A> (Post 7 – 43\/1)<\/STRONG> represents\u00a0Alpine Turf Club<\/A><\/STRONG>.\u00a0\u00a0 Nitrocavy is having a blast handing out\u00a0hot cocoa\u00a0and candies to the railbirds.\u00a0 <\/FONT>\u00a0Despite a sunny-but-soaked day here at Italy, a\u00a0hot drink still hits the spot.\u00a0\u00a0Nitrocavy sure is in the Winter Equinics spirit too,\u00a0wearing a woolknit ski cap, matching\u00a0red scarf and mittens…..\u00a0what fun!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/FONT><\/DIV>

Silver Ghost’s a really popular sire in this race and his son Silver Court went 3-for-3 to begin his turf career as a 2YO.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the stakes winner ran a clinker on DPCD Day.\u00a0\u00a0 Toss out dirt debacle 2nd time around in his last.\u00a0 \u00a0He’s much better than his record suggests — still trying to figure out if he’s a sprinter, short router or more.\u00a0\u00a0 Possible.\u00a0<\/FONT><\/DIV>

–> And here comes some more Aussies with Down Under Racing<\/STRONG><\/A>‘s Gallant Dancer<\/STRONG><\/A> (Post 12 – 12\/1)<\/STRONG>.\u00a0\u00a0 Trainer Coffee shadows Nitrocavy (trainer of The Hot Drink), passing out capuccinos and cinammon sticks.\u00a0 Indeed, the DUR crew has camped out next to the Alpine Turf Club supporters.\u00a0 The whole group make a merry sight, raising lattes and cocoas in a grand toast to this year’s Equinics.\u00a0 Coffee appears ready for a long night at the Italian coffeehouses and\u00a0discos, dressed in a satin purple\u00a0shirt, black pants, and spiffy golden shoes.\u00a0 Ready to PARTY and dance the night away!<\/FONT><\/DIV>

Another Sadler’s Wells and this one won a couple grass stakes last year.\u00a0 Gallant Dancer bred for mucho stamina though and additionally finished kind of subpar in sole off track outing.\u00a0 Must handle course, but the stalker shows some talent.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I like him better over 9f -10f and more sooner rather than later, but could be\u00a0a factor here.\u00a0 Possible threat.\u00a0<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/FONT><\/DIV>

Very Silver impressively gained ground on Always Improving in the BB Juvy Turf<\/EM>.\u00a0 The sky seemed the limit for the GSR Juvenile(G1)<\/EM> winner.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Silver Ghost youngster followed up the BB with just as good effort on DPCD <\/EM>day, but faltered in the\u00a0Japan Racing Association(G1)<\/EM> afterwards.\u00a0 He’s the #1 ranked Classic colt in the Sim and you can make a pretty good case that he might just be a Monster Miler.\u00a0 But he’s still learning, look for a better effort in his 2nd 3YO race if the midpacker can overcome lousy post.<\/FONT><\/DIV>

–><\/STRONG> Finally, Dessie Hollandia(IRE)<\/A> (Post\u00a020 – 9\/1)<\/STRONG>\u00a0carries the hopes of Benelux<\/A><\/STRONG>.\u00a0 Trainer\u00a0Rosemont graciously passes out carnations, lilacs, and of course roses\u00a0to lucky ladies in the grandstands.\u00a0 You can’t miss Rosemont amongst the crowd —\u00a0Rosemont’s quite a sight dressed in\u00a0a classic black tuxedo, complete with silver vest, red\u00a0bowtie and sleek\u00a0white scarf.\u00a0 I bet Rosemont’s heading to the Italian opera for\u00a0the “Don Giovanni”\u00a0performance afterwards.\u00a0 Bet some of those lucky ladies will join him too!\u00a0 <\/FONT><\/DIV>

Runner-up in the Apparently Juvenile(G3),<\/EM> Dessie Hollandia snapped a 3-stakes race win streak.\u00a0 Desert King(IRE) son keeps on improving and has the SP#s to upset the graded stars.\u00a0 Lousy post, but I like him a lot shortening up to the flat mile.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Boasts plenty of stamina for a classic test down the road.\u00a0 Still, great shot here if top jockey K Ledwith can overcome the 20-hole.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Hasn’t tested off track over grass yet though.\u00a0 Will factor amongst pacesetters, but can stalk\u00a0behind the lead.\u00a0 <\/DIV><\/FONT><\/DIV>

Cortez, Cronus, My Own Turbo, Gallant Dancer, Silver Court, & Kepler Berzerk all have considerable merits to spoil the show… but all need their best races.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/FONT><\/DIV>

I really can’t select one winner and most of these horses test an off track for the very first time.\u00a0 But I’ll go with the best two SP#s-type horses over the BB-winner on the ground-saving rail.\u00a0\u00a0 Watch out for BB winner Always Improving though — he’s 2-for-2 over off turf tracks!:<\/FONT><\/DIV>
