There are many people visiting Paris right now as the weather is absolutely gorgeous. I like to call Paris the San Antonio of Europe…waits…what? Anyway, there happens to be a Grade 1 going on this week! Today we have many of the best distance running ladies in the world. The Vermillion Stakes features 9 beautiful ladies and some nice horses too. This is a mile and a half race that promises to be a great one. We have 6 Graded winners and 3 other fillies or mares who have placed in Graded events, all having won stakes races. This world class field is ready, and the weather is expected to be around 71 degrees and partly cloudy at post time. Let’s go ahead and meet the girls.

The first post is held by Bandslam out of the Kev stable, coolk Racing stables, and the EAAA racing residency. This 3 year old filly out of Giant’s Causeway has been very impressive as of late. She is coming off a 2nd place finish in a Grade III where she ran a career high speed figure of 107. Before that, she raced at this distance and won the Grade II Mallrat. This will be the first time she races against older mares and she hopes to be up to the challenge. She has been in the money for 10 of her 12 career races. Bandslam has the longest odds of the race, going off at 15/1. She is expected to try to get around the middle of the pack and then make a dash at the end.

Our 2nd post position belongs to the four year old filly, Montana’s Rock from the montanarox stable, the Sonofaus racing group and the Midas residency. This daughter of Dalakhani is some of the speed in the race, preferring to stay at the front of the pack. You will be able to tell exactly how this day is going to go for Montana’s Rock from the break at the gate. She is fresh off of a third place finish in the Grade III Freer Stakes. The filly has run at this distance three times, having yet to win at this length. I like what her trainers are doing here, as she has been running longer distances and falling off at the end and I think in the one’s she has won at longer she has just outclassed the competition. The odds makers have her morning line odds at 7/1. She is one of the three horses who have yet to win a Graded race in this race.

The #3 post is occupied by the year old Dynawells from the daniel2 stable, Daniel racing stables, and Empire State Racing. This daughter of AP Indy is far and away the most accomplished girl in this race, having earned over 3 million dollars and 4 Grade I victories…including the past TWO editions of this exact race. I am shocked that the odds are only 3/1. She is coming off a terrible race, finishing dead last the last time out, that may be the reason. She knows this race and track well and will definitely be one to watch as she tries to make a third trip to victory in this race. The breeders bowl champion will surprise us how she runs. She has won this race two different ways, both coming from way back and wiring the field…so….who knows? She has got to be close to making the hall of fame and is currently the #3 ranked long turfer in the world.

Our #4 horse in this race is Harmless Habit from the henny stable, desperado racing stables, and blazing saddles residency. Harmless Habit is out of Giant’s Causeway and is the veteran runner of the group, making her 30th career start today. She is coming off of a beautiful victory in the Grade III Stutenpreis last month. She has never won at this distance in multiple tries, but has run a 108 speed figure at the mile and a half. Her harmless habit seems to be stalking a bit off the pace and then closing in for the victory, which she has done 9 times. The morning line is 6/1 as she will try to get back to back Graded victories.

The 5 post will be held by My Role Model who is really a role model to me. This 3 year old out of Galileo and the eminc stable, eminc racing stables, and Blazing Saddles residency is a phenom. She has won 3 consecutive Grade I races and is the #2 ranked long turfer in the world. All with 8 races under her belt. She already has 2 Grade I victories at this distance and is looking to make it a trifecta. The morning line odds of 11/1 appear to be a steal, though this will be the first time she has gone against the older gals. This is another filly who likes to sit back and then strike. The form is there, can she up her game against the old ladies?

The Last Meadow will be coming out of the 6 hole. She represents the fairway stable, and Hispano Parlante Residency. She is a 6 year old mare out of El Prado. This is another top 10 ranked turfer, placing 6th in the world at this point. The Last Meadow has spent most of this year finishing in the money in graded races, with a victory in open allowance company thrown in for good measure. The 12 furlong race appears to be her specialty and she has thrown some really good speed figures at this distance. She doesn’t seem to have as much of a move as some of the other mares, but she is just plain fast and likes to stay just off the pace before moving up. The morning line places her at 4/1. She will definitely be contending.

The 7 post will be held by Casino Duchess who is fresh off a Grade III win at this distance in Ireland. She represents the casino stable, casino racing stables, and Empire state racing residency. This girl is a four year old filly out of Duke of Marmalade. She will also be stuck in the middle of the pack before trying to move forward. The oddsmakers place her at 7/1 for this race.

Our #8 horse is Malibu Suspect who is going off at 10/1. Malibu Suspect is from the mickyb stable, ladofmanor racing stables, and the GR Simsters residency. She just finished 2nd place in the Grade I Yorkshire stake on an off track. That was the 4 year old Daughter of Malibu Moon’s first attempt at graded company, and I have to say that it went well. She is a mixed bag, sometimes going for the lead, other times preferring to follow. Judging by the field, I would expect her to start closer to the front of the pack today.

The outside pole is represented by K’s Autum Concerto from the kuovadis stable, and Hispano Parlante residency. This Awesome Again mare is the 2nd favorite in the morning line at 7/2. She is also the leader of this race in career wins, though she doesn’t have a Graded victory to her resume. She will try to change that today. She fell just short last time out with a 2nd place finish in the Grade III Giving Thanks to Casino Duchess. She wants revenge. She is a slight stalker, staying just off the pace.

Prediction:

Dynawells wires the field to make a third consecutive victory in this race.

Good luck to all of the connections.

[4

post-16555","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-general
["GET
