We go back to a more popular sire line with this sire. Anziyan brings a solid pedigree to the table, solid sim production to the table along with solid real life production.

Real Life- Anziyan is by <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Danzig. His dam sire is His Majesty (Ribot) and his dam’s dam sire is Buckpasser. Anziyan has a pretty nice pedigree. He was a stakes winner and placed in a couple of grade III races before retiring. He was mostly a turf runner racing in France. His dosage index is 1.89 showing good stamina in the pedigree. Even though there is stamina in the pedigree Danzig and Buckpasser to a certain extent are speed influences.

His best real life runner to date is Anziyan Royalty. He is a stakes winner and last year ran a pretty good race finishing second to G1 winner Lava Man in the G2 Californian. He has succeeded on the dirt but many of Anziyan’s real life runners run well on the turf.

Sim Life – Anziyan has about thirty-five current sim runners. Three of those runners are stakes winners, one a graded winner. Two of the stakes winners did it on dirt and were sprinters for the most part. The graded stakes winner did it on the turf and was probably better sprinting but was solid at a mile. The stakes winning days of these runners appear to be over.

The younger runners of Anziyan have not been all that great. There could be a couple of reasons. One he is being bred to a lesser dams sire. He has never really been bred to the really expensive dam sires however he was bred to dam sires like Louis Quatorze, Devil His Due, Red Ransom and Zabeel (NZ). Most recently he has been mostly bargain bred with dam sires like Miner’s Mark, Snippets (AUS), Fred Astaire, and Royal Roberto.

His pedigree seems to set up well for Mr. Prospector line sires however he has had success with Northern Dancer line and Halo line sires for the most part. His runners tend to be mostly sprinters but he can produce route horses.

Breeding Suggestions – Anziyan’s pedigree seems to really set up well for Mr. Prospector or other Raise a Native line sires. This pedigree also sets up well for one of my favorite inbreedings and that is to Ribot who will appear in the fourth generation of Anziyan’s offspring. The Halo line has worked well with Anziyan already and I there are many other sire lines that will mix well like In Reality, Blushing Groom (FR), Seattle Slew, Bold Ruler and Riverman.

From the Mr. Prospector line I really like Silver Ghost, Carson City or for a little more stamina Machiavellian. Other Raise a Native lines sires I like are Affirmed and Majestic Light.

For Ribot inbreeding Majestic Light is a good choice as dam sire. Ribot is the dam sire of Majestic Light plus you add the Raise a Native line to the breeding. Arts and Letters is a good son of Ribot you can use in the dam’s dam sire spot.

Anziyan (10864) X Majestic Light (3739) X Roberto (5367)

Anziyan (10864) X Blushing John (671) X Affirmed (83)

Anziyan (10864) X Carson City (1007) X Arts and Letters (337)

Bargain Bred – Anziyan gets down to about 30 BPs at the end of the week. To this point he has not been a good bargain sire however I think he is plenty capable of producing solid BP earners as bargains.

Anziyan (10864) X Slew City Slew (5937) X Crystal Glitters (1416)

What to Expect – To this point Anziyan has been a pretty versatile sire. He produces dirt and turf runners and gets the occasional route horse amongst the sprinters. I would look for his runners to be early bloomers. His runners probably will show their best late as two year olds and as three year olds. On the other hand His Majesty produced very few two year old winners so if you add some stamina maybe the runner develops later. I would stretch his offspring out even if it does not look like they can handle a mile, the runners may surprise you.

Special thanks to Lostorf for the sire request.
