They’re going 6.5 furlongs on the dirt for a purse of $80,000. We have everything from a graded-placed filly as well as a young lass who is still in the beginning stages of her career, not to mention a Tete triple threat. Let’s take a look at the entrants and see how they stack up.

On the rail at 9/1 is the first of the Tete queens, Tete Song(Ire). She is gorgeous light grey 4yo by Grandera(Ire), and is based on an Unbridled’s Song horse. She began her career with two wins on turf, and has been running well in allowances since then. She’s run a 96 twice, and other than her last start, has been showing good form. She has a good jockey in A. Givan.

In post two is today’s favourite at 2/1, Aniron(Ire) owned by celticcros. Named for a song by Enya (Aniron = I Desire), the 5yo is by Black Tie Affair(Ire) and out of a Theatrical(Ire) mare. She had a stellar 4yo season, with 5 wins, 3 seconds, and 1 third in 9 starts, capping off the year with a victory in the Fresh Boom Special in North Korea in which she ran a career-best 105 and defeated a graded winner. She has one of the track’s top jockies in M. Sheridan.

In post three at 7/2 is the graded-placed Knickers Off, owned by chongtong. The 5yo by Scan is coming off an impressive second-place performance in the G3 Natural Spring Stakes, where she ran a career-best 108 speed figure. That capped off her excellent 4yo season, in which she won 4 of 10, with 2 seconds and 2 thirds. She is at the top of her game right now, and is expected to give the favourite a real challenge up front.

In post four at 14/1 is Tete Magica(Ire). She is an imposing 4yo chestnut by Hawk Wing(Ire) out of a Royal Academy mare. She has spent the better part of her career in routes, with both of her wins coming at 9 furlongs. She has only run in dirt sprints twice, in her last two starts, and finished third in an allowance last time out. She will likely need to improve on her career-best 93 to win here.

Rounding out the Tete triumvirate at 11/1 is Tete Morbid Tales(Ire). She is a 4yo by Montjeu(Ire) and is based on a Kingmambo horse. She is stakes-placed, having run third in her only stakes appearance at a mile on dirt in Finland. Her wins have all been in sprints, though her best speed figure of 98 was run at a mile. She has run in the top two in half of her career sprint starts, though, and could figure in to today’s race if she runs as well as she can.

In post six at 11/1 is Dublin Lass owned by dublinlad. Excuse me for a moment, I need to wipe the drool off my keyboard. This is one lass that every trainer would like to have, by Storm Cat out of a Mr. Prospector/Seattle Slew mare. She is a 4yo just beginning her career, having run 7 times, and her sprint record is 3 wins and 1 second in 4 starts. She ran a 101 two starts back, and has a decent enough jockey in T. Haley. She will be gunning for the lead with the favourite, and could pull off a big upset here.

In post seven at 10/1 is Craftfly’s Wells. The Fly’s horses are well known in the sim as nicely-bred and good competitors, and this girl is no exception. She is a 4yo by Crafty Prospector and is out of a Sadler’s Wells mare. She has won dirt stakes at both 8.5 furlongs and 6 furlongs. She tends to run from the back of the pack, and has a real nice kick when she fires. She’s run a top speed figure of 98, and if the leaders tire out today, she may be flying past them at the end.

In post eight at 9/1 is Renacer owned by juliotto. She is another beauty, by Forty Niner based on an A.P. Indy horse. She has 11 starts, all in dirt sprints, and has hit the board in 7 of them. She’ll be stalking somewhere behind the leaders, and ran a 99 two starts back. With her youth and small number of starts, she will be one to watch as she matures this year. She only has one condition left, having won three allowances already, and I expect her to continue to improve.

Rounding out the field is today’s second choice in the odds, Demand More, going off at 3/1. She is a striking light grey 4yo by Vision And Verse out of a Rubiano mare and is owned by cowboy2. She has won two sprint stakes in her career, and placed in four others. She ran a career-best 105 last time out while losing by just a head in the Southern Lynn Special in Newmarket on an off track. She has run 100 or better in three of her last four starts, and is sure to make a splash in this division this year. Top jockey B. Schardein aims to have her stalking the pacesetters.

Well, this looks like it will be an exciting one! We have plenty of speed up front, but there are a couple of real nice stalkers who will be waiting to pounce if the pace isn’t too hot, and a closer who could make some noise if she fires. Good luck to all the runners and may they all come home sound.

[2

post-1564","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews
["GET
