He was a solid race horse and has been a pretty solid producer in real life. He is one of those sires that stands at a big name farm along side some pretty nice sires and can easily be forgotten. In the sim his production has fallen off in recent years along with how many times he is used but I would imagine his ability to produce a stakes winner is still there.

Real Life- Private Terms is by Private Account (<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Damascus). His dam sire is Bold Ruler and his dam’s dam sire is Native Dancer. That is an awesome group of classic sire lines. His dosage index is 3.75 a good mix of speed and stamina. His racing career was a good one winning twelve times in seventeen starts. He won five graded races that included the grade I Wood Memorial, and a grade II race on the turf.

With thirteen crops of racing age he has produced twenty one stakes winners six of those graded stakes winners. His top runner was Soul of the Matter a grade I winner earning over two million on the track. He spent some time in Japan at stud and is now in California this year. His other top runner is Afternoon Deelites. Afternoon Deelites was also a grade I winner and now is one of the top sires standing in Louisiana. His production has slowed as he has gotten older but he still had two stakes winners and another two stakes placed runners in 2005.

It has been popular to inbreed to a couple of sires in Private Terms pedigree. The more successful is probably inbreeding to Nasrullah who appears in the fourth generation of Private Term’s offspring. Inbreeding to Bold Ruler is also present in a few top runners. The other inbreeding is to Native Dancer. Many of his offspring and inbred to both Nasrullah and Native Dancer.

Sim Life – Private Terms has sixty-one active runners in the sim only fifteen are under five years old so that gives you an idea of how little he has been used in the sim the past two breeding seasons. He does have four active stakes winners although none are competing in stakes any longer. Every single one is inbred to Bold Ruler, Nasrullah or Native Dancer. Private Terms has three retired millionaires in the sim. One inbred to Native Dancer, one inbred to Bold Ruler and one inbred to Bold Ruler and Native Dancer.

He does not currently have a runner winning stakes at this moment in the sim. I think a lot of that comes down to not being bred very much the last few years. Also he has been paired with less than great dam sires the last few years which may have hurt his chances of producing a stakes winner.

Breeding Suggestions – Well this one seems simple enough. What has worked in real life has worked in sim life. So we will look to inbreed to Nasrullah , Bold Ruler or Native Dancer. I think a total outcross would also make sense in a lot of ways however it is tough to argue against what has worked.

I like the Nasrullah inbreeding the best. That means looking for a grand son of Nasrullah to use as a dam sire or a son of Nasrullah to use as a dam’s dam sire. Nasrullah has some really nice grandsons to choose from like Blushing Groom, Mill Reef, Naskra, and Riverman. Secretariat is one of those grandsons however he is also a son of Bold Ruler so using Secretariat would inbreed to Bold Ruler here 3 X 3 which might be a good thing in this case.

Using sons of Northern Dancer in the dam sire spot will create a 4 X 5 inbreeding to Native Dancer and there are plenty of those to choose from. Son’s of Mr. Prospector will get you the same desired inbreeding and again there are plenty of those to choose from. Sons of Raise a Native will produce a 4 X 4 inbreeding to Native Dancer most notably Alydar. Affirmed and Majestic Light would create 4 X 5 inbreedings.

Bold Ruler appears in the third generation of Private Term’s offspring so I would almost prefer to inbreed to Bold Ruler 3 X 4. Although it would be interesting to see how 3 X 3 works.

I like several other lines just as crosses. The Ribot line, Seattle Slew, In Reality and Roberto lines all seem pretty solid.

Private Terms (4971) X Affirmed (83) X Roberto (5367)

Private Terms (4971) X Blushing Groom (FR) (669) X The Minstrel (6552)

Private Terms (4971) X His Majesty (2803) X Sir Gaylord (5882)

Bargain Bred – At this point Private Terms is a pretty solid bargain sire. He gets down to 40 BPs or so at the end of the week. That means we can pair him with a solid bargain sire and probably have a good chance at a solid runner. This one should be just under 100 points late on Saturday.

Private Terms (4971) X Cresta Rider (1381) X Iron Ruler (3048)

What to Expect – Private Terms seems to produce offspring that are late developers. He is not known for his two year olds in real life, he was not a stakes winner until he was three and his sim runners seem to have done better at three and four. Most of his runners prefer the dirt however he will throw some turf runners. I think he will produce more route runners however he has produced a few runners that sprint.

As always if you have any questions, comments, or sire requests please drop me a line at mcbwildcat@aol.com.
