(AP)Wyoming- After the winter break it is good to be back in the cold drafty journalist room sitting in my old creaky chair with a strong cup of coffee in my favorite white chipped mug. This weekend should bring a cold clear day and a nice field of ten competitors. The four year and older horses will be running for silver and $50,000 in the thirteen furlong marathon known as the Glen Code Special. It will run on dirt that will be a little hard but still should bring in some nice speeds. So let\u2019s take a look at who is visiting Wyoming this week.
Between A Rock<\/font><\/B> entered by db<\/I><\/B>. It is obvious this elder colt likes a fast track, as his best times are on them. He will be entering just his second stakes race on this seasons debut run. He likes to set the pace and will most likely use it here, but he does have a stamina problem. Especially<\/font><\/B> entered by illbred<\/I><\/B>. This chestnut horse comes to the dance as the highest rated horse to race to ever run in Wyoming with his #4 rating for his age group. This graded winner likes to stalk the pace and is most lethal when he does. He can set the pace and does occasionally, mostly to his disadvantage. High Five II<\/font><\/B> entered by lucky7<\/I><\/B>. This elder chestnut horse comes into the race as the odds favorite. Although favored, he seems to be losing a step lately. His last few races have not been up to his usual standard and has the trainer a little worried. He has a seasoned jockey in the irons and is still dangerous and will need to put in his best effort this weekend. Touch And Stop<\/font><\/B> entered by dlynche<\/I><\/B>. This horse debuts in his first stakes race after coming off a very strong year. This trainer has slowly extended this pace setters distance and comes in at his longest route to date. He is hoping to build on last year with a stakes win here. Seeking Pie<\/font><\/B> entered by jefahl<\/I><\/B>. This chestnut colt takes on the field and the longest rout of his career this weekend. The front runner has shown a strong performance in longer routes and is primed for a try at the next step. Will be trying for his second win at stakes level. Velvet August<\/font><\/B> entered by cuetec<\/I><\/B>. This elder statesman keeps churning out the races, but it has been several years since he has stretched out to this length. The old veteran likes to stalk the pace and still has some respectable speeds. He has been on a long layoff that may have been due to an injury and he could be very rusty. Add to that a jockey that has been having hard luck on the track and this horse will be hard pressed for a win. Ruling Empire<\/font><\/B> entered by cbizkit<\/I><\/B>. This elder dark gray colt also opens up his season with the longest race of his career. He likes to run from the middle of the pack and then try and sprint for home. It is a style that has been giving him trouble the longer the races get. Galapagos<\/font><\/B> entered by industrial<\/I><\/B>. This elder statesman shortens up a few furlongs on this outing. The closer likes the longer distances and has been no stranger to the winner circle at stakes level. Although a consistent runner he does seem to have a less than enviable record at shorter routes. Tiz The Key To Win<\/font><\/B> entered by dougiec<\/I><\/B>. This chestnut horse seems to have lost a step and the first race of the season could be a fore shadow of how it will go the rest of the way. He has been putting up consistent numbers, but unfortunately they have not often equated into much success. His style is jumbled but seems to favor closer. Raindrop Raider<\/font><\/B> entered by winningrun<\/I><\/B>. This elder chestnut horse likes to break from the gate in the middle of the pack and then work he was to the front from there. He has run only once at this kind of distance in his career and pulled a show for the effort.
