<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>Maybe they couldn\u2019t train a frog to jump, but trainers texasace<\/I> and dkyoung7<\/I> can apparently train a thoroughbred how to race.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Racing\u2019s most anticipated day saw both trainers leading their stable stars, Horseshoe<\/st1:PlaceName> Bay<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> and Turning Japanese, into the winners\u2019 circle after victories in the Breeders\u2019 Bowl races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Both, however, needed extraordinary efforts to pull off their respective victories, and just how draining those efforts were has become painfully obvious in their subsequent races.<\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

Turning Japanese was the first of the pair to return to the racetrack, shipping halfway around the world to test her mettle against the boys in the G1 Coxless Stakes.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>She acquitted herself well, finishing a closing 5th<\/SUP>, looking like she could have used the extra furlong that she had to work with in the Breeders\u2019 Bowl.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was a performance that must have left her connections fairly satisfied, because her next stop was the G1 Japan Cup, where she\u2019d face, among others, Horseshoe<\/st1:PlaceName> Bay<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>It was another three year old, Jupiter\u2019s Moons, that instead pulled the upset, leaving Rain God, Allied Assault, and Sunnybank Memorial in his wake along with the pair of Breeders\u2019 Bowl winners, who finished 7th<\/SUP> and 8th<\/SUP>.\u00a0 <\/SPAN><\/FONT><\/P>

\u00a0<\/FONT><\/o:p><\/P>

While the top four from that race made an appearance in the Pennsylvania Marathon that will ultimately be remembered as Allied Assault\u2019s victorious farewell, Horseshoe<\/st1:PlaceName> Bay<\/st1:PlaceType><\/st1:place> and Turning Japanese instead took shelter from the winter weather in the relative comfort of their barns, emerging from their cocoons to take a crack at this $500,000 G1 event.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The rest of the field is considerably weaker than this pair saw in the Japan Cup, and they are the two standouts.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Provided they can each rebound from their last outings and return to their Breeders\u2019 Bowl form, they should be difficult to beat, but eight have lined up to try it, so let\u2019s take a look at the field.<\/FONT><\/P>

Apparently, the result of breeding a top notch sprinter by Lost Code to a mare by Lost Code, instead of producing some sort of ultra-quick first sprinter, you get a turf marathoner.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Go figure.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>Either way you cut it however, this horse seems to be treading the fine line between high claimers and cheap allowance races.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>As a speed influence, he may be winging it out front early, setting it up for the deep closers, but he\u2019s likely to toss the bit as soon as he\u2019s faced with any real pressure in this sort of company.<\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><\/TD><\/TR>

$450,000 in the bank and a pedigree like his (Theatrical x Affirmed) warrants this one a second look, but upon closer examination, his situation is similar to Lowlands Lost One.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>While he\u2019s riding the fine line between small stakes and graded company instead of two tiers down, he\u2019s in a tough spot here.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The good news is that he should be the classiest speed in the race, and should be the one in control of this race with about a half mile left to run, and he\u2019ll have control of his own destiny with a chance to prove his moxie.\u00a0 <\/SPAN>The smart money is saying that he may stick around for a small check, but he\u2019s not likely to be able to hold off that relentless late rush that both of the stars in this race posses. <\/o:p><\/FONT><\/SPAN><\/P><\/TD><\/TR>
