It will be run at one flat mile on the dirt track for a purse of $450,000. This will be the sixth running of this race. We have a great lineup of stars, including many who have appeared in the Breeder’s Bowl. Based on the race history, it will take a speed figure in the range of 120 or more to win. The inaugual running was won by the incomparable Duke Ali, still considered by most to be the best dirt miler to ever grace a sim track.

Starting on the rail today is arterra’s Silver Victory at 8/1. He is a 4yo by Silver Ghost. He was a graded winner on turf as a 3yo, but has run exclusively on dirt this season, winning six of eight starts. He ran fifth in a G2 last time out, but it was only two weeks ago and was most likely only a prep for today.

In post two, also at 8/1, is trotter2’s Personal Call. He is a 5yo by Roar. He is graded-placed, having run third in the G2 Prims Memorial in Sweden recently, but has yet to become a stakeswinner. He has had a good year though, only finishing off the board twice in nine starts, and ran a 112 in his last.

In post three at 11/1 is pher’s Silver Canuck. The two Silvers may be confusing, but this one is probably better known. A 4yo by Silver Deputy, he ran in this year’s Breeder’s Bowl Classic, and is ranked #8 in the division. He has won two G1 and one G2 in his career. This will be the first time he has run less than 9f since early in his 3yo season. The last time he did, he ran a 112, and has certainly matured since then. R. Foster is in the irons.

In post four, also at 11/1, is jockeymax’s Unprecedented. He is a 5yo by Hansel and is ranked #11 in the dirt classic division. He has won three G1 in his career, all at 9f, which might lead one to say that is his best distance. He did, however, run second in a G1 at a mile in his last race, so he certainly should be competitive at this distance as well.

In post five at 13/1 is pm’s Act Of Brave. He is just three, but already has over one million in earnings. A son of Gone West, he is ranked #13 in the 3yo dirt classic division. He ran second in last year’s Breeder’s Bowl Juvenile, and won the G1 Colonel Prospector Emerald Stakes last time out over Unprecedented.

The lady in post six likely needs no introduction. Glass Heart is ranked #2 in the female dirt classic division. The 4yo by Stormin Fever had a bad trip in the Breeder’s Bowl Distaff, but she has won a G2 and two G3 this year. She is owned by 4stardave and her odds today are 9/1.

In post seven at 18/1 is kingswood’s Gardiner. He is a 5yo by Capote. He did not run as a 3 or 4 year old, and is coming off his first stakes victory last time out. He has a lot of racing time yet ahead of him, having only run ten times, and could become a horse to be reckoned with in this division next year.

In post eight at 12/1 is cadet’s King Cadet. He is a 4yo by Danzig out of the nice graded-placed Mr. Prospector mare Big Project. He first ventured into graded competition this year, and has a second and two thirds to show for his efforts.

In post nine at 5/1 is kwswps2’s Van Halen, the #4 ranked horse in this division. The 4yo by Sadler’s Wells ran a real clunker last time out, but that was only two weeks ago, so it seems likely that he was only out for a work. He’s won a G1 and a G2 this year, and has placed in three others…certainly a great season for this guy. Top jockey N. Lawton gets the nod.

In post ten at 23/1 is quietly’s Penquin Cat. He is a 3yo by Tabasco Cat, and is four for four sprinting. He is graded-placed at a mile though, and his last race was at 7.5f, so the distance shouldn’t be a question. He seems to have matured recently, running his best speed figures in his last two races.

In post eleven at 13/1 is keryn’s Danzig With Sal, the #6 ranked horse in this division. A 4yo by Danzig, he had a terrible trip in the Breeder’s Bowl Classic, but it seems that it was most likely a distance issue. He drops back here to his preferred distance, at which he is a G1 winner, and should be well-rested and raring to go.

In post twelve at 7/1 is mirasol’s Red Hot Cat. Another 4yo by Silver Deputy, he has won two G3 this year and just missed a G2 by a head. He is ranked #23 in the division.

In post thirteen at 13/1 is bliss’ Taking Risks. He is a 3yo by Forty Niner and has won a G2 and a G3 this year. His first run against older horses was a disappointment, but he is coming off a G3 victory in the Hudson Hawk Stakes and looks to be ready for another test.

In the outside post at 8/1 is thegallery’s Ethan Hollandia. A 4yo by Richter Scale, he is ranked #17 in the division. He is G1 winner, and with the consistency he has displayed this season, will likely win more in the future. Really, the only “bad” races he ran this year were one on a sloppy track and one that was probably beyond his best distance.

This is quite a diverse field, with three year olds, a filly, as well as some proven veterans who are not strangers to the winner’s circle. It should be an exciting race, so tune in Saturday for this G1 showdown!
