It wasn’t\u00a0exactly a “glorious” run, but Allied Assault<\/STRONG> plainly got the job done.\u00a0 <\/FONT>The leading turf horse and multiple Sim Eclipse award-winner galloped to an easy score in the Grade 1 $500,000 Victoria Plate<\/EM>.\u00a0 Masterab’s 5YO horse is now one Grade 1 victory away from matching Joe Cayenne’s magical 13 G1-wins record<\/A>.\u00a0 <\/FONT><\/DIV>

Only four horses showed up to challenge Allied Assault …. and really only one presented any kind of threat:\u00a0\u00a0 click’s Swingshift Sal<\/STRONG>, a leading turf performer in the Classic division.\u00a0 Even that turned out to be a non-starter since Swingshift Sal clearly did not enjoy the 12 furlongs, finishing a dusty-n-distant third.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/FONT><\/DIV>
<\/FONT>\u00a0<\/DIV>
Instead, Allied Assault played redux of his usual way, way back rally, putting on a mighty workout show for the Victoria fans.\u00a0\u00a0The War Chant son was\u00a0certainly the class of the field, dispatching marianus’ eventual runner-up Crimson Prospector<\/STRONG> (who won the battle <\/FONT>of the pacesetting “longshots”) around the final turn.\u00a0\u00a0The final time was a rather pedestrian (for Allied Assault anyway!) 2:31 1\/5, a 100 SP#.<\/STRONG>\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT><\/DIV>

But that’s all that the big guy needed.\u00a0 He now moves past Sunnybank Memorial<\/STRONG> (who lost in Week 2538)\u00a0to take sole possession of second on the all-time Grade 1 victories list at 12 wins.\u00a0\u00a0<\/FONT><\/DIV>
