I wrote that the Senior Robin Cap was an eight and a half furlong race when in reality it was nine. I truly thought the distance was as written and do not know where I went wrong. I would like to apologize to the racing fans for this gross error and would like to promise that it will not happen again, but I guess I can’t. It could very well happen, even with my best efforts not to let it happen. That being said, the race was a study in closing styles where the front runners were hardly effective fading to the back in most cases. Like so many previous races it turned into a one-horse show. Zarcillo held true to form and came from seventh place all the way for the win. It showed he had settled into American racing and is ready for a strong campaign here. Bases Loaded showed his trainer that this is the preferred distance with a strong challenge for the win only to fade to second while he struggled in the stretch run. Wizard Of Westwood continues to pay dividends for his trainer when they gambled on him in the claiming market. A strong showing to garner a third spot is a clear indication that sometimes a trainer must stretch out old legs to refresh their winning ways.
Up this week is the $65,000 Song Cecil Special for the freshman ladies. It is a seven and a half furlong race (yes, I checked five times to make sure) on the grass oval. Due to the bad weather forecasted for this weekend, and indeed it is raining/snowing as I write this, a short field has entered. As a matter of fact there are several short races on offer this weekend and this could cause a smaller than normal turnout. It would be a shame to miss our featured race, as there are four good looking ladies entered to run. This may be your only chance to see them before they move on to bigger and better things.
John’s Niner entered by daunte6. This young lady by Blushing John has hit the board all six times she has raced. Twice a bridesmaid at the big event she comes in looking to break this streak. She has been on an off track with only a minor reduction in speed and stands a good chance, although a really bad track could hinder her more than usual.
Dynamite Contender entered by con10der. This young lady by Dynaformer is slowly improving since she was moved to the turf. Although she did stumble, literally, last time out of the blocks she still was able to recover for a second place. She also has been on an off track with seemingly little effect to her and her front running style. What will occur on a really horrible track will be seen on Saturday.
Victory Stroke entered by man0war. This filly by Victory Gallop enters just her fourth race of her fledgling career. She has been at stakes level already but that was on the dirt. Last time out she was tested on the lawn and she exploded. She has never been on an off track and there is no telling how this closer will respond. The track being a really sloppy mess will add to the challenge.
Just Cause(IRE) entered by dadepark. This Irish chestnut by Giant’s Causeway also enters into just her fourth career race. After a less than successful attempt at routing last time out this filly drops back to this long sprint to try her hand. She also has not been on an off track before and this will probably cause her the most problems of our group of racers. It is no indication that she not a decent runner and given a dry track she would be a strong contender. It is just the way she struggled at her route attempt that gives the impression that a sloppy track will be her down fall.

[2,3,1

post-1207","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews","category-reviews","category-uncategorized
["GET
