A player vs. player equine grudge match? A battle-royale for residency superiority? Or just an elaborate excuse to watch 20, yes, 20 horses clutter up the race viewer? Any or all of these could be viable explanations for the intriguing race we bring to you today, an Owner Restricted event for 3yo¡¦s and up. One thing I can tell you for sure¡Kthe purse is a solid 50 grand, and they¡¦ll have to run 1 1/16 miles on the sandy slopes of Jamaica¡¦s turf course. I was selected for this assignment, of course, because I¡¦m from Jamaica, man. Right near the beach. If I wasn¡¦t from Jamaica¡Kthen why would I be wearin¡¦ dis hat? ƒº

#1 ARIZONA HOME 8/1 Nodafan¡¦s veteran HOLY BULL homebred proved she¡¦s not ready for the breeding shed yet with a nice open allowance score vs. older fillies & mares a few starts back. She may not be able to control the pace today like she did in her recent victory, but having the one hole shouldn¡¦t hurt a bit. A ground-saving, pace stalking trip should put her in the mix as they turn for home.

#2 HUMPTY DUMPTY(IRE) 30/1 Deyoto sends out this balanced 3yo ROCK OF GIBRALTAR filly who has been first or second in her last 5 starts. Don¡¦t be fooled by the low fig on her maiden score¡Kshe was 1/9 that day and obviously used the race as little more than a paid workout. She gets put to the test today against more experienced foes, but I rate her a chance for a piece based on talent alone. Hard to pass up at a whopping 30-1.

#3 CLAY AGENT 29-1 Backspin made a heck of a claim (it appears) for $4,000 and turned this rare ¡¥original stable horse¡¦ into a solid starter allowance performer. Too bad this race is a bit short for his liking, and not on his preferred surface. He did break his maiden for a tag at this distance on the turf, but has been non-descript on the lawn thereafter. Can¡¦t recommend him in this spot, but I¡¦d take this horse in my stable any day!

#4 APPLE GEORGE 25-1 Moleh acquired this horse from original breeder champions2 three starts back but has yet to find the key to this talented but enigmatic BUDDHA colt. The joke may be on us, however, as Georgie is a stakes winner on the lawn at 2, and regularly runs better on the green than the brown stuff. Considering his last 3 efforts were on the dirt, could there be a little bit of chicanery going on here? Very interesting.

#5 COBBS CREEK 6-1 The morning line favorite is a jrth stable homebred by DISTANT VIEW who is a multiple stakes winner AND the leading money earner in the field. Definitely a worthy adversary. He drops in here after contesting three tougher stakes races with minimal success. Although his turn of foot is not what it once was, please note that last time he faced allowance foes, they got a good view of his backside as he drew off in the stretch. A solid threat if you believe that class trumps form.

#6 JETLINER(AUS) 8-1 Leolh has got this JETBALL(AUS) colt firing on all cylinders, taking him from the low claiming ranks and turning him into a nice allowance horse. He lit up the toteboard in an open allowance race last out with a lifetime best 99 SP rating¡Kin his 36th lifetime start! If he doesn¡¦t mind the added real estate, he¡¦s your likely winner. Not much of a longshot at 8-1 in a 20 horse field, but hey, a win is a win!

#7 PAPILLON(IRE) 28-1 Jeremyf sends out this hard-knocking filly for her 41st lifetime start. An eight-time winner and solid starter allowance performer, this just doesn¡¦t look like the spot for her to break the N1X condition. Her running style is versatile, though, so I wouldn¡¦t be surprised to see her ¡¥hit the ticket¡¦. Not a win contender, however.

#8 NUTTY SHIP 7-1 Backspin sends out another ¡¥original stable horse¡¦ to complement the uncoupled entry. This guy shows only 2 lifetime turf starts but he has tons of speed and should be able to handle the distance at this level. Could be dangerous in a speed filled race with no clear-cut pace setter¡Kmaybe it¡¦s him?

#9 SCORPIO RISING 22-1 Sime11 just claimed this 4yo filly for a nickel where she was a big disappointment after a 6 week rest. She¡¦s not exactly a true ¡¥turf¡¦ horse, although she won a modest conditioned claimer at 13 panels in her last grass race. A head scratcher, for sure. I¡¦m sure the trainer saw something to like when he dropped the slip, but it¡¦ll take a special feat of training magic for her to compete today.

#10 BELVEDERE(IRE) 15-1 Jeremyf¡¦s second part of the entry, this old warrior loves the distance and the surface but has floundered of late. I like his allowance victory versus on-in-six-months types about eight starts back, which would make him competetive here. Could be a sleeper for the exacta if he realizes there¡¦s no monsters in the field.

#11 MOMENT OF PANG(IRE) 11-1 Sime11 fires again with this 3yo HAWK WING(IRE) homebred who¡¦s pedigree says she should run all day long. Surprisingly, her success has been in allowance sprints and has only tried route racing once. And that was on the dirt! She handles both surfaces equally, so who¡¦s to say she won¡¦t stretch out? If you like omens, she is the 11 horse, at 11-1, saddled by sime11. Maybe I should bet $11 on her. But with my luck, she¡¦ll get caught 11 wide on the turn and finish¡K11th!

#12 SPEAKING LAGO(AUS) 52-1 Trainer marks21 claimed him for $3,500 and definitely had the right idea when running him for 4yo+ allowance N1X, a useful spot for picking up breeders points. This horse has won most of his prizemoney at marathon distances, so he might just be warming up when they cross the finish line.

#13 EIGHT BELOW ZERO 15-1 Finkfarms0 starter allowance terror looks unstoppable at 10 furlongs but is untested at today¡¦s distance. She handled the rise to allowance ranks easily, but failed in a 12f stake last time out. If it was only the distance that bothered her, her opponents may feel the whoosh! of a cool breeze as she blows by ¡¥em late. Not a safe play at 15-1, but that¡¦s why they call it gambling.

#14 KING OF KILMORE(AUS) 8-1 Another deyoto homebred that has done little wrong, tried marathon distances recently without dropping in the speed rating department. He¡¦s only 3, but the LONRHO(AUS) colt is sneakily improving and should not be a surprise to anyone if he pulls off a minor upset. A must-use on your exotics ticket.

#15 EIGHT SHIMKO 25-1 Court1 claim for $4,000 has yet to pay big dividends but ran a respectable time in an impossible tough starter race in Michigan 7 weeks ago. Maybe the time between races will freshen him up, a training maneuver I fully endorse! Running style says he is up against it today, but never say never in the SIM world.

#16 RICKETY CASINO 12-1 Nog1 speedball ran a respectable third while coming from off the pace in a 1 3/8 mile allowance last time out. Quite peculiar for a horse who is usually on or near the lead in sprints! She may be better on dirt, but has never missed the money on the turf. This one could be boom or bust, depending on how the jockey judges pace. I think her best shot is to try and steal it from the outset.

#17 ONCE UPON A NOG(IRE) 38-1 Hmm¡Kowned by hawk4, bred by deyoto, but named after #16¡¦s trainer? I think I¡¦m seeing the pattern here! This 3yo colt has a true sprinter¡¦s pedigree and does not look to benefit from a speed duel, the extra ground, or the outside post position. Can¡¦t see him earning a check today.

#18 THE FIRE 18-1 Another deyoto homebred, this time with ELA-MANA-MOU in the pedigree to add some stamina. The 3yo KING CUGAT colt flashed some speed in his two route races, and since settled into a nice career as a turf sprinter. Could be a factor at a big price, but needs a quick lesson on how to harness that speed. I¡¦ll try not to get burned at the windows!

#19 BENELUX SPECIAL 21-1 Leolh shelled out $500,000 at auction for this well-bred 3yo filly. She has shown an affinity for turf routing, but just hasn¡¦t been able to get the job done since breaking her entry level allowance conditions. Although she drops out of a Grade III in her last start, I think she is still in a little tough today. A change of race-day strategy may also give her a boost.

#20 THE PIRANHA 51-1 Much to trainer nog1¡¦s dismay, the 2nd longest shot on the board gets stuck with the outside post and a speed-filled field. This is not exactly a fish in against sharks, as the odds are slightly exaggerated due to his inexperience (5 lifetime starts). The 3yo EVENT OF THE YEAR colt has been running longer in each of his last 3 routes, so today¡¦s turnback in distance might be to his liking. Not a win prospect, but I expect good things from him in the future ¡V and maybe a surprise 3rd or 4th today?

Summary: What a race! Will there be rabbits employed? Rabbits for the rabbits? Systematic race fixing? Who can tell? Barring all silliness, I like JETLINER(AUS) and KING OF KILMORE(AUS) in an exotic bet keyed over HUMPTY DUMPTY(IRE), COBBS CREEK, NUTTY SHIP, EIGHT BELOW ZERO, and MOMENT OF PANG(IRE).

[2,3,1

post-1161","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-previews","category-reviews","category-uncategorized
["GET
