Eight young fillies have entered this week’s main feature in Ireland. The Ferdilouka Stakes will be run over 6.5 furlongs on the dirt course for an $85,000 purse. Disappointed after K’s Eskape’s winning streak was ended here two weeks ago, her fans have once again turned out in droves to watch the similarly-bred K’s Stand Tall<\/b> go for her sixth win in as many career starts.<\/br><\/br>Whereas K’s Eskape was Mineshaft x Danzig x Mr. Prospector, K’s Stand Tall is Mineshaft x Nijinsky II x Mr. Prospector. That, my friends, is the only real difference to be seen between them. Eskape won her first ten starts. Stand Tall is halfway there. Her last two starts were in stakes, and she has recorded a top speed figure of 81 to date. Z. Kentucky, who rode Eskape in the Sarela Memorial, gets the mount again here on Stand Tall, and definitely will be looking to make sure he gets it done here today. Her odds are 2\/1.<\/br><\/br>Going at 7\/2 is socko’s Crimson Express(Ire)<\/b>. A daughter of Giant’s Causeway(Ire), she won the G3 Dr. Shut-Yer-Lips Juvenile in Missouri back in August, posting an excellent 85 speed figure. She was less successful in her last two starts, both at the graded level, but the drop in class and her late-running style will suit her well here, as the front-running Stand Tall should give her a good pace to chase down. After all, that is how Pentagram won over Eskape, and the same jockey who rode Pentagram, A. Reed, is up on this one.<\/br><\/br>Two fillies have odds of 5\/1. Ruby7’s Favotector<\/b> has a wonderful sprinter’s pedigree, by Favorite Trick out of the Mr. Prospector mare Night Project. She placed last time out in The Mine Sword Memorial in Dubai, running an 83 speed figure. She hasn’t won a stakes yet, but she also hasn’t finished off the board, and looks to be improving nicely.<\/br><\/br>JH’s Kaka Ricardo<\/b> is by Kingmambo out of a Danehill mare. She broke her maiden in an allowance, but has struggled somewhat since then. Other than a bad race on turf, however, she has improved in each start.<\/br><\/br>At 6\/1 is muckross’ Pierce(Ire)<\/b>. She is by Hawkeye(Ire) out of a Mineshaft mare. She won her debut, threw a clunker on her next start, then finished second in a pair of allowances before breaking through and winning a stakes in her last start. She loves to run from the back of the pack, and has E C Doyle up for this one, Ireland’s best jockey for closers.<\/br><\/br>Going off at 8\/1 is JH’s second entry into this race, Stormin At Home(GB)<\/b>. She is by Storming Home(GB) out of Princess Buda(Seattle Slew), who has produced one stakeswinner out of her four progeny. This young lady has had bad luck at breaking her maiden, finally scoring in her fifth start last time out. Along the way she tried both surfaces, and although her win came at a mile on the lawn, her best speed figure so far was in a dirt sprint. Her speeds haven’t been outstanding, but the turf to dirt angle could certainly give her a boost here.<\/br><\/br>Blueangels has entered Pikeville<\/b>, a daughter of Pikepass based on an Irish River(FR) horse. Her trainer has been very careful with her schedule, giving her ample time to rest and mature between races. Because of that, she has only run three times, but won handily last time out here in Ireland. She gets an even better jockey this time in M. Russell. Her odds are 10\/1.<\/br><\/br>Rounding out the field at 11\/1 is abcy’s No Minimum<\/b>. She also had been well-rested, having run only four times even though she began her career in April. She won two of those four, the last being an allowance in which she ran a very nice 81 speed figure. It has been six weeks since then, and if she has matured as much as she did between the last two races, she could surprise everyone. She is by Yes It’s True out of an Allen’s Prospect mare, so dirt sprinting should be right up her alley.<\/br><\/br>That is your field, and it should be an exciting race, with K’s Stand Tall trying to outduel most of the pack for the lead and the two Irish-bred fillies trying to run them down in the stretch.
